Milo update
A report on Milo,
he still isnt using his litter tray very great but hubby on Monday said that he hadnt been giving Milo a fair chance and we should like we have every other byunny.
We agrteed that any bunny no matter what size etc.. would ahve a hard rtime after Lily.
Well, he managed 15 mins or so last night and the night before with no poops in the front room (although he did earlier in the evening)
They just seem to drop out of his bum
He spent about 15 mins grroming me last night! it was lush! have never experienced that before so excited by it!

Re: Milo update
Ahh hopefully he will get the hang of it, although I did hear before that rabbits are a lot harder to litter train if they haven't been neutered, so maybe that's why (I think you said he wasn't yet). Plus he is probably still marking territory. I remember even after Thistle and Luna were done, if I put them in a new room they would poo EVERYWHERE the first few times they were in there...it was like a raisin factory ha ha!
Soooo cute he was grooming you ^_^, mine only do it when I am asleep or pretending to be asleep! So lucky .

Re: Milo update
I think he still needs some time Hun,who knows what he has been through. Have you tried some training?
Daisy was terrible but what we did was this . ...
When he poo'd we picked up the poo and him and put them both in the litter tray. I did the same with wee - soaked it up with a tissue and put him and the tissue in the tray. I would also gently put my finger on his nose and firmly say no when he had each accident, and then gave him a fuss when I put him in the tray with the poo.
Also it's a good idea to use a large litter tray initially until he gets the hang of it .
Some buns can do it straight away and some just don't understand and need some help. He has a lot to live up to too but I'm sure he will fit - it's just such early days.

Re: Milo update
Rory isnt neutured yet and poo's just pop out of his bottom all over the place - partly scent marking as he is mad on it, and also that he needs to be nuetured - Milo and Rory will get the hang of it I am sure - untill then I have great relationship with the hoover and detol anti-bac, Vax, and frebreeze!
Glad hubby is cuttung Milo some slack - we get spoiled by well-trained buns and forget the work and time that went into making them that way. Willow and Felix are fab with their litter tray and it has been a learning curve with Rory - though I had willow and Felix at 3 weeks so they have had alot of practice and learnt young. They would not sit anywhere mucky - Rory however was used to sitting i his own waste all the time

Good Post Katie
This is what we also do put the poop's back in the litter tray and I always leave a bit of the soiled litter in the litter tray so they can smell where to wee, we buy for big bunnies and big bonded pairs 'potting tray's' from garden centres, they are ideal and good also for disabled bunnies. Two bunnies can snuggle next to each other perfectly. We also buy 'cement mixing trays' from Homebase for big bunnies to but these are very large, deep and take up space if you haven't a lot of room.
These are the potting trays and they are usually about £7.99 which is cheaper than some large litter trays.
These are the 'cement mixing' trays but they are quite large (diameter 94cm height 8cm) and not cheap £17.49p from Homebase.

Re: Milo update
He's very loving but seems strange. He grooms me lots but he doesnt seem to like it in return so I stroke him and he runs off, strange.
I want to be nice to him but everytime we're together he just licks me!
Never thought I'd complain about it but want to groom him and make him happy!

Pebbles is like that, everytime you try to stroke her she moves her head around so that she can groom you!

Re: Milo update
me too Katie, he isnt as big as I expected or as litter trained but I cannot send him away, he's been here a week now and in a way he's made me miss Lily more but he has also made me laugh and provided a bit of comfort for me.
I think he's used to his own company as at the moment he's out in the hall happy on his own, he's not how Lily used to be at all, she was very needy of human affection x

Re: Milo update
I think as time goes on you will see a change in him - he just isnt used to being loved I think.
It must be hard having another bun after Lily, but she would be happy you are saving this boy I recon.

Re: Milo update
I hope so, she was so different she would never groom me and demanded lots of strokes bless her, Milo is the opposite bless him.
She loved human company and he doesnt feel the need for it at the moment.
Im sure she's giggling at how poorly litter trained he is and the mischief he's caused by pooping and peeing over the house.
There's a photo of photoucket of him sniffing her picture its so sweet its almost like he's saying hello to her x

Re: Milo update
Perhaps Lily felt you deserved the grooming this time around! ha ha
maybe its not that he doesnt want the human company - maybe hes just not used to it?
Thats so sweet.

Re: Milo update
Yes perhaps she did
I'm sure she approves of him even though he is smaller than her.
Its just so strange, I was her minion and now he wont accept any affection.
He just popped in the room with me and accepted a quick stroke gave me a quick groom and hopped off

Hey Karen, looking at his vid, he looks like he has a giants head but not a giant body? I can feel your grief for Lily it is so raw and real. I reallu feel for you. I had a very special heart bun who i grieved for massively and your grief is ringing so mnay bells with me.
Just want to offer you a big cyber hug and echo wat others have said abiut hi clearly not being used to love.

Re: Milo update
It took my Bertie over a year before he'd let us touch him, and he turned into the biggest cuddle bun ever He will learn to trust you, and with that he'll let his barriers down, all in his time
Re: Milo update
Thanks everyone. Hubby was crying last night because he misses Lily
We both miss her so much and its quite hard here at the moment. Poor Milo has lots to live up to poor thing and he's just trying to find his feet himselt.
Charlotte, yes he has the giant face for sure but the rest is lacking in giant size! he's supposed to be the runt of the litter and a year old although waiting for his vacc's book to come through.
He's got baby fur and his spine and hip bones stick out so am feeding him excel baby food to feed him up before planning to et him neutered.
