Pictures of my improved hamster habitat. (VERY PIC HEAVY)
I thought I'd share some pictures of my hamster habitat, since I've changed a few things in it.
Please excuse the bad quality of the pictures, my camera isn't that good when there's no good natural light around.
Also excuse the reflection of my PJ's in some pictures, it was 1am when I took them.
Anyway, here are the pictures!
That's it!
And here's a bonus picture of Mr grumpy pants having a nom.

Well no, because Syrian hamsters are are solitary and will fight with any other hamster no matter how big their territory is.
They are always kept alone.
As for dwarf hamsters, I could have a maximum of 4 in there comfortably, more than that would be too much. But I'm not really into dwarf hamster keeping.
I could however have a colony of mice, gerbils or lemmings.

Thanks, it's not that hard to clean out considering it's pretty much just scooping all the bedding out after removing the accessories.
Besides a full clean out is only necessary every 4-5 months as long as I clean out the pee corner every other day and the nest/food stashes every week.

Woah! And I thought my two hamsters where pampered... Although saying that, the do seem to spend about 90% of their time free range (in separate rooms obviously) so I suppose their cages don't really matter, despite the time and energy I spend trying to make them as good as possible
ETA; Just one thing, is it hay you have used as bedding/nesting material? I wouldn't recommend using hay as bedding because hay, while fine for rabbits, can be spiky/very uncomfy for hamsters, as well as being bad for their cheek pouches. Hamsters find things such as loo paper or kitchen roll much softer and more comfy, plus they love ripping it up into shreds and making lovely soft nests out of it!

That is fantastic!
My OH will live this as he really wants a hamster and he would love a set up like this.
What sort of habitat is that? Is it a reptile vivarium or especially for small animals? Where did you get it?
