I've upset Her Majesty!
The play pen is now permanently set up on her house, but when we're home its often opened so she can still come up on the sofa with us.
Tonight I haven't done that, so she's been biting on the panels near the sofa trying to open them So I got a spray water bottle to squirt her when she done it.
She's not impressed! I'm getting back legs flicked at me and she's refusing to come over to talk.
Oooooops!

ooooooohhh noooooo, not the water bottle!
She'll get over it. I tried it once when i was bonding - had all sorts of things at hand after people had suggested them. I used it once and decided to leave it out. They dont like it, and either do i.

Ah, yes. The dreaded water bottle. We've had to use that on occasion with His Majesty Thumper. With him we found that the sound of the sprayer is what he doesn't like. He doesn't mind water. Silly bunny!

Oh dear - You are in the dog house then!!
Im afraid i would never dare even get it out of the cupboard as I fear he would actually pack up his nuggies and bell and leave in disgust!

Re: I've upset Her Majesty!
I felt mean doing it, but I'm worried she's going to break her teeth gnawing on the bbars like a hamster! The word "no" wasn't working, so I decided to get tough on her. At one point she was enjoying licking the water off the bars, but that was probably when I had rubbish aim!
She seems to have forgiven me this morning, but she might have just been pretending to get breakfast quicker!!

Re: I've upset Her Majesty!
I've been doing it to her again today, but I feel so awful. She hates it, yet isn't stopping the gnawing. What's weird is she's never done it before, yet now she's got more space she's doing it.
I'm worried if I keep doing it she's going to hate me

Re: I've upset Her Majesty!
I don't think she's trying to get out or frustrated. She might just like the noise or the fact she gets a reaction. Our Rosie used to rattle the mesh on our pen all the time, even when the door was open.
Could you get hanging toys to go over the mesh, so she can chew and play with them instead?

Re: I've upset Her Majesty!
It's not the mesh part sadly it's the actual metal bars. She sits there with her nose through gnawing at it, I've had hamsters that used to do it! I've tried the "lots of bunnies live in the garden in a tiny hutch, you're very lucky you know having all this space" guilt trip but it hasn't worked!
I even tried showing her a photo on my phone of her potential new boyfriend Even that didn't stop her!
I've now put all her toys in the playpen, even though she shows no interest in them when she's in there, and they get the odd nudge but that's it. I've been told off by hubby for giving her a bowl of readi-grass in the playpen ("she's meant to eat in her house, no food on the carpet" ). I did put it on her chill and chew mat though!
I do wonder if it's because she's used to being out with us more, whereas now she's playing on her own more. I just called her and she came over, so she's not too annoyed with me (I think).
I just wish she could talk sometimes and tell me if she's happy and what I could do to make her more happy.

Re: I've upset Her Majesty!
I was right, I think. I got in the play pen with her and she was all over me, grooming me and circling me. Didn't go near the bars once. As soon as I got out she was back there, so I think it's because she isn't used to playing by herself and wants us with her
But that's fine, I'll stop the water now I know it's an attention thing.
