I am so upset

I just found a baby rabbit in the middle of my garden, won't go into details of the injuries but its obvious a cat or something had been at the poor thing My vet has put the baby to sleep

I have just been knocking on doors to find the owners and I am so disgusted and upset with the reaction I got when I found them

It was just the attitude of 'whatever' Today is Beau's gotcha day and I would do anything to have him back and these people didn't seem to give a **** that one of their rabbits had just died. I wasn't asked any questions other than what color was the bunny, not what vet I took their rabbit to or anything. Like if someone came to my door and said I have just had one of your animals PTS I would have a million questions and would want to speak to the vet but they didn't ask me one single thing

To be honest other than their total stupidity at not shutting their hutch properly it didn't look to me like there was anything wrong with the actual set up that could be classed as neglect or abuse, there was a run out and there was plenty of hay and toys inside the hutch so I doubt the animal shelter would do anything when there are animals in worse situations really. I will mention it when I am there Monday. They must have been breeding because they had the mum and babies I am just so angry that they didn't seem to care And I wanted the bunny to be ok even though I knew the vet wouldn't be able to do anything

I am so sorry that you have had to go through this. What total *********, they don't deserve to have animals.

What horribly ignorant people. I don't think there is anything the RSPCA could do based on what you have said but that dosn't make it any less upsetting. Let's just hope they don't go out and buy another bunny.

I will definitely mention it when I am there next week but I really don't think they will do anything, apart from not really being very interested in this baby the rest of the litter and mum seemed to be in good living conditions so I know its easily done not shutting a hutch properly, but with a litter of babies in the hutch you would have thought security would be something you double check on. Its not like a baby can defend itself in the same way an adult can when the door is left open if something comes into the garden

They have the mum and other babies still Sooz This was a tiny baby, probably about the size of my biggest rat

Poor little bun I'm glad you found the poor thing and took care of it, at least it was loved that last bit of it's life.
