Re: Jeeves not eating :( UD 'Thurs AM'
He's just eaten his tea like a real trooper!
Rocket, corriander, dill and carrot. He's now on the loo and eating hay.
You wouldn't think it's the same bunny who refused everything put in front of him this morning including a whole carrot. I'm amazed at how quick these meds work.
Is it worth putting probiotic in the water or will it mess with his medication?

We always use a pro-biotic when buns tums are out of balance
Often the vet will recommend it.

So pleased to hear he's nommed his tea. I really hope he perks up soon.
Love his card, and love how Tigger is distincly unimpressed!

He does seem to be perking up a bit, as I said earlier it's quite hard to tell since he is so laid back anyway, but he is running around a bit too. Oh and he was having a brilliant dig in the box of hay I gave him to find the tasty bits.
I just pray that he is ok tomorrow when the metacam wears off and we have solved the problem.

If he is no better with his meds I'd get the vet to do a dental and remove the spurs, when Gypsy gets the slightest spur growth he won't eat, even a tiny spur can stop a bunny from eating and sometimes drinking.

Re: Jeeves not eating :( UD 'Thurs AM'
He is relatively bright this morning, he has eaten all his pellets which is a good sign for his teeth and he has been running around and putting up a fight.
I'll keep a close eye on him later though incase the pain starts again, I don't know how completely accurate the metacam 24 hours is.
I tried the honey trick that Maysie mentioned in my other thread but he wouldn't even acknowledge it was there so I'll be popping out to get some pineapple juice and some baby food.
Does the juice have to be fresh or can it be concentrate? Also does it have to be sugar free?
He took his medicines relatively well. He must be getting so fed up. Him hiding breaks my heart, but here's a cute photo.
Nope, dere is no bunny here wanting medicines! Ok fankoo bye!'

I'm glad he seems brighter
Next he'll be trying to convince you to give it to Tigger instead....
Personally, for the amount he'll be given, I wouldn't worry *too* much.Dotdot wrote:Does the juice have to be fresh or can it be concentrate? Also does it have to be sugar free?

We usually buy the packs with 3 little 200ml packets of pineapple juice in them you don't waste too much. Tesco's sell them our's at the moment are Sainsburys pineapple juice concentrated.
You only use a tiny bit to sweeten the nasty meds.

Re: Jeeves not eating :( UD 'Thurs AM'
Pineapple juice is good for bunnies. I swear by the stuff. Anytime any of the bunnies I have had start to show any appetite change or act 'off' out comes a snack cup of pineapple in it's own juice. I give a little of the juice and tidbits of the pineapple.
Thumper hasn't molted yet, but with my other bunnies at the first sign of molting out comes the pineapple tidbits! You buy it in the little snack packs and each little cup is good for many day's worth of pineapple.

Pineapple juice worked!
He freaked out at first but when he tasted the pineapple he relaxed
He's had his pellets again this morning and he's now nomming on his grass and hay.

Yay! That's a good trick to know, I'll remember that, I dread having to give Florence medicine after her reaction to the Metacam after she was spayed

Told ya! Pineapple juice and fruit work well on tummies and masking unsavory tastes. The little cup lasts for days then what tidbits are left can go into salad or sauce for you!

Excellent, we'll try that if the vet insists on leaving Jack on the Baytril

Re: Jeeves not eating :( UD 'Thurs AM'
Hi hun
Sorry I havent really been around much this weekend and have only just caught up with things.
Im sorry to hear Jeeves is poorly.
Are they going to do a dental for him?
If he is not eating I suspect that the spurs are hurting him even if the vet says that they are not a problem. Bunny mouths are very very hard to see inside and often its only when they are under a GA that the vet can see properly.
Sending him some hugs x x

Re: Jeeves not eating :( UD 'Thurs AM'
Thanks everyone
I've also read medication can make dark poo.
What's frustrating is they get bored easy of how I give them their hay and I'm running out of ways!
The vet said that a dental may be the next step. His pain relief wore off yesterday morning and he's been fine eating hay and pellets. It's strange that the vet I saw when he had a runny bum said she couldn't see any spurs.
Maybe I could push one? I have a wedding this Saturday so I'm not sure what to do.
His poos have been fairly normal from what I've seen when I've been there and he's done any (since tigger is there too I can't tell whose are whose!) They are quite dark but they always are after they've had grass or the greener hay. The only time they've ha gold poops from hay is when it's been gold hay.JoeyBunsMum wrote:Yay that's great news! I dread to think what Tigger would be like, I think she would get pretty angry, normally Jeeves is the chilled one and he hasn't been to happy so Tigger would be difficult!icedancer wrote:Yay! Re: Jeeves not eating :( UD 'Thurs AM'
There must be a reason for all this and his lack of eating I think and they are very difficult to see especially if the vet is not very bunny savvy.
Glad he is munching away today though.
