Re: Hand Rear Wildies
Yes I thought they would be to tame for release, I had a baby wildie that I rescued from under a live track at a childrens park and cared for him but he became to tame to put back in the wild

The little one looking at Oscar
Are they actually going to be released? I would have thought they'd be too tame....
Well the idea is that once they are eating solids and totally weaned off milk, they will go into an outdoor hutch and the contact will then become minimal. Now with previous hand rears this has worked a treat however they were reared from 3 weeks not a few hours. The Inspectors won't be impressed with me if they are too tame. Argh!!!! Ah well worst case scenario I guess I will just have 3 wilds. But ultimately I would like them to go back to their natural habitat. I guess it depends on how wild they turn once puberty kicks in.
Re: Hand Rear Wildies
There coming on so well, not long till ready to go back out in wild, I would maybe try and find a way to put them there but be able to check on them for few days to see if they will be ok.

I think puds is going to be someone who does amazing things for animals when he is older.
You have done an amazing job hun, I have no idea how you manage to fit it all in!

Re: Hand Rear Wildies
They are doing really well but still just seem to live for a bottle and a fuss. The chatter their teeth and go all silly. I am really stumped. I think that when they are fully weaned and they go outside, I will reduce contact and see what happens. I have had them sexed and I have 2 boys and a girl
Any hand rears I have done have been 2 to 3 weeks when they come in. These babies being hours old, are a totally different kettle of fish (or bunnies as the case may be).

Re: Hand Rear Wildies
My bubbas have spent their first night outside in a big bunnies hutch. I was so worried about them. When I opened the kitchen window this morning and shouted "babies" they all came running!!!!!!!
Re: Hand Rear Wildies
Ahhhh!
BTW I am imagining you running out of the house at daybreak like a mad woman desperately yelling 'Babies!'

Oh I'm so glad they're doing well!
Sorry you've lost another two, but as you said you still have three and clearly they love you!
So lovely to see a photo of Oscar! I've been wondering how you've all been getting on.
