need some advice
Me & my OH have been asked to house sit for a week. We decided to go together & take Nibbler with us, though I don't know if that was the wisest decision now. we've got here, I've set him up & he's had a good look round. Seemed quite happy & I went & put this fan on cuz it's quite warm but it seems to have freaked him out. He started honking & thumping & wouldn't let me near him. He's sat down & is letting me stroke him now but he still seems to be breathing heavily & quickly. Though he's is having a good grind with his teeth as I'm stroking him. Do you think it's heat or he's stressed out? If he's stressed what can I do to help relax him?

Re: need some advice
It could be a little of both he's in a different place and rabbits are not keen on change and some do stress till they get use to it, if it's heat and he's not keen on the fans and lot's of rabbits don't like the sound of a fan, either rinse an empty plastic pop bottle out and fill half way with water and put it in the freezer till it's frozen and put it next to him and he can lay next to it if he's feeling a bit hot. Ice pod's from Pets at Home are good as well to pop on the floof for them to lay on, or even an ice cube in this weather that they can lick will keep them cool. You can also just mist over him gently with cool water if you have a spray bottle.
I'd see how he goes it could just be the change and for a rabbit it can be a big thing but I'm sure he will settle down eventually.

Re: need some advice
Thank you, I definitely think it's because of the new place, he seems very freaked out by it all. I'm sitting with him talking to him but that doesn't seem to be helping much. Do you think if I put him in the corner of the room he'd be happier?

You could try, have you his pen and everything out the way it was at home that might help and maybe try some music on low that sometimes help as daft as it sounds

Re: need some advice
Feel his ears do they seem hot or cold?
If they are hot he may just be a bit overheated, it's very hot here today and we have all the air condiotioning units on and curtains closed to keep it cooler in the rooms. I did open a window but it was just hot air coming in so I shut it again.

Re: need some advice
Sorry I didn't get back to responding yesterday. My OH helpfully went and smashed my phone on the floor and didn't have a computer/laptop to hand.
His ears were a little warm, so I think it was a combination of that and being a bit nervous about it all. I put him in the corner of the room and he seemed a lot happier, though still not happy about it if you get my drift. Think next time we're asked to house sit it's going to be a no, I hated seeing him that nervous.
