Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
No news yet. I have my phone right next to me and I'm obsessively looking at it every minute incase I've missed an update.
I feel pretty sick at the moment. They will be in the vets right now.
I feel blimmin' useless not being there with them- but I can take comfort in the fact that they are in fantastic hands.

Oh no! Poor Tigger Sending her lots of vibes, she's too gorgeous to be poorly! Glad Jeeves is doing better. I wonder what on earth has upset their tummies so much.
They sound in the best place, keep us updated. x

Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
Just had a phone call- I can relax slightly.
The vet has pretty much reassured Caroline that she is doing all the right things. As Tigger is still doing disgusting poos she is on kaogel to help try and bulk her up inside. She will continue on antibiotics, metacam, probiotic and hydration fluids. Her temperature is normal, she isn't dehydrated and Caroline is now on the way home to check her glucose levels as she is better at it and knows more about it than her vet does due to the RWAF conference
Jeeves also has a bubbly sounding tummy so will also have some medication to help him along.
They will be separated but put next to each other so she can determine who's stomach is doing what.
Tigger is quite lethargic and out of sorts so Caroline is trying very hard to determine what she wants to eat with what she can eat without upsetting tummy even more.
They are pretty much an unknown case at the moment. She said she has known rabbits to have diarrhoea from ingesting too much soil from digging. She also had a wildie a few weeks back who had an infection and diarrhoea who took two weeks to recover but is absolutely fabulous now. We hope it won't take that long or have them away from home that long but it is reassuring that she can recover from this.
She's focusing on getting her eating and doing normal poo.
I miss them so much I am welcome to go visit any time though

Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
Well it is good to know that they are being well looked after. As for eating I would be getting them to feed the good digestive herbs - chamomile, mint, fennel (leaf or bulb), rosemary, lemon balm, dill, fenugreeek (break out the crunchies!), plantain, raspberry leaf, thyme. They may not want to try some of those, rosemary in particular seems to be a real shock to the uninitiated. Fennel is a really good herb and both rabbits and pigs love it in my house. The bulbs are easy enough to come by in the supermarkets. If you do not have any chamomile you can buy it dried or if you can't find that buy pure chamomile teabags and sprinkle the content on food.
I would also be thinking about stripping down their other diet to hay and diet pellets as they are less rich. I would be reluctant to go pellet free as the buns will want some energy to heal.

I appreciate all your hugs and vibes!
I'm definitely going to visit them again. It's unfortunate that it's an hour away but I'm going to do my best to see them as much as possible.

Hopefully she will recover with no problems. It does sound like an infection or major upset of the bacteria in her gut. Poor Tigger! I hope Jeeves stays well and they will both be home soon. x

Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
Just a thought Dotdot - have they been put on any pro-biotics...?
Pro-c or Bio-lapis are the two which spring to mind. Vegan-bunny mentioning upset gut flora made me think of it.

Tigger is stable. Since separating and being able to see who's poos belong to who, Caroline is worried Jeeves has caught it too so is treating him as well.
Both are eating dandelion leaves and other things and Tigger has been very good in drinking Caroline's magic concoction of charcoal and slippery elm.

It's starting to sound like the bug that the other bun had, in which case the prognosis seems pretty good

Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
Thanks once again for your fab vibes. It seems they are working very slowly, but working nonetheless.
I had a text and a phone call this morning.
After being separated Caroline has been able to see that Jeeves has normal poo He will be having a botty bath today because he is a mess from his uneaten c's and sitting in Tiggers mess.
Tigger is eating the things she should be when she has an upset tummy, lots of wild plants good for the digestive system, but she is being very selective about it and getting bored with eating them quite quickly.
Caroline will continue to keep them separate but next to each other so she can monitor just how much Tigger is taking into her system and monitor poo.
Nothing seems to be coming out at the moment.
This could be because she has had such bad diarrhoea for 3 days that she is empty so it's taking a while for things to pass through, or she is constipated.
Caroline spoke to her mentor and she has recommended getting her to exercise and stopping the kaogel incase it is bulking her up too much.
I'm taking the fact that she isn't still pouring with diarrhoea as a positive step. They're baby baby steps but we are getting there slowly
I'm visiting them both tomorrow (and doing some volunteering at the same time) and we will discuss the possibility of them coming home and me doing the medication depending on how she is tomorrow I'm unemployed at the moment so will be able to care for her 24/7 and who knows maybe being at home will perk her up.

I hope she continues to improve. It does sound like a bug of some sort, poor Tigger. So glad Jeeves is doing well He will no doubt be stressed which could be why he is producing excess cecatrophes, or it may be that he has a mild case of whatever Tigger has.
Sending more vibes!
