Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
We've had Flagyl as an anti-biotic before - Mrs D loved it so much she would suck it out of the syringe
Humum would never ever bother with Baytril again, luckily we have a vet that allows her to dictate this and will prescribe other meds.
I really hope they've finally found the cause and an effective treatment. Poor Tigger

Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
Tigger was struggling with eating food. She's been so fussy and only fancying things she can't really have. She refused bramble which is very good for diarrhoea and she wouldn't eat diet pellets or fenugreek crunches.
Caroline tried her on some coriander last night just to try to get something in her because that was all she fancied and this morning the coriander seems to have made the diarrhoea worse.
However she had her first dose of Flagyl last night and this morning she started eating grass and bramble!!
So proud of my little girl.
We are expecting results from sample at midday.
Caroline pasted me in an email she sent to someone else whose rabbit she cared for quite a while ago with diarrhoea. Her rabbit was ill with it for 14 days and the medication we are hoping to get, baycox, along with Flagyl suddenly worked wonders within 4 days!
Fingers crossed.
Thank you all again

I hope there's some meaningful result from the tests, although I am glad the Flagyl seems to be helping anyway.

Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
Hi all, we have results!
It took a good few hours longer than expected which made both me and caroline all the more anxious but at least we have them.
Tigger has high levels of coccidia in her system. It's quite a shock, but I am so so relieved that we now have answers, we can now get the baycox which will work along the flagyl. I won't wallow on the fact that the vets insisted on Baytril for so long and didn't suggest coccidia or a faecal sample earlier- I'm just so glad she's fighting
What's confused us is how Jeeves hasn't had it since it is so infectious!

Oh I'm so glad you have a result and know what you are dealing with. Jeeves must be super immuno bun or something! I hope Tigger makes a speedy recovery, keep us updated

Brilliant (well, not that she is ill but you know what I mean) - I hope the treatment perks her up really quickly
Is it one of those things that most bunnies carry but only some suffer from? I wonder if a bit of stress has let it get a hold on Tigger but not Jeeves...

I think it is one of those things that a bun carries and lays dormant until triggered, yet it is still very infectious and spreads when a bun does have it fully

Finally! Answers are always good even if they aren't nice. Now you can treat her and she will hopefully recover with no ill effects. Poor Tigger being ill for so long without a diagnosis, obviously Caroline has been looking after he brilliantly since she seems quite bright.
Hope everything starts to improve from here! *sending her lots of vibes!*

Knowing what you are dealing with is just vital so this is a great step forward. Hoping that now you can motor on in and Tigger can get better. She is indeed a 'bonny fechter' (a good fighter), so hope she continues to fight and gets better soon. xx

Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
Thank you all
So relieved.
I like bonny fechter Nickie - I wouldnt be surprised if I nicknamed her bonny!
Tigger has been pretty much the same today. Hopping around, eating a little, diarrhoea.
BUT
About 20 minutes ago I had a photo from Caroline of slightly formed poo! We are both very excited, a great breakthrough.
(You know you're a crazy bunny person when you have poo photos on your phone and you get excited about them)

Nobody but bunny people understand why we get excited about poo My friends often think I'm crazy when they hear me go on about good poos lol.
Glad she seems to be on the mend xx

I'm still smiling at myself because I actually - just for a second - really considered counting Sasha's poo output when someone said there was an average daily figure!
