Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
Hi everyone
I went to visit my babies today, it was so good to see them and they both seemed much more alert and recognised me!
To cut to the chase, no, they aren't back home with me yet.
Tigger is actually pooing now, but they're like slugs and we think one had a bit of blood on earlier today so Caroline thought it best to keep her there and take her back to the vets during the week again, she also said she couldn't send a poorly bunny home which I thought was so lovely. I was also concerned the hour long car journey may send her backwards.
I'd love her home, but if she isn't well enough then that's fair enough and I'd rather keep her comfortable there until she's better. Also Caroline has all medication to hand which is invaluable especially during the weekend and whilst I'd like to think I would do a good job of caring for them- Caroline is brilliant.
It's a long road to getting her better, she is still being very selective about eating. I even took fenugreek crunches down today and she didn't eat them
I wouldn't say she wasn't interested though. I shook the tub and she clearly recognised the sound as she came hopping over. She even took one from our hands a few times but never ate it. When Jeeves had one she was curious as to what he had and she didn't, so she went to steal it from him (like usual) but then when she got it she didn't want it so he got it back.
She's running around a bit though, getting good exercise. When I saw her last Monday she was out of it, curled up and refusing to move. Today she had a cute look in her eye, knew who I was and was running around
She's being syringe fed recovery food so hopefully she will get an appetite again. She's still on Baytril, probiotic and metacam.
Jeeves is perfect. He's happily running around and mugged me for fenugreek crunchies. I think if he could he would have climbed in the pot
One of the other volunteers was entertained by him at how he was flinging lumps of grass around.

Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
AM Had a text to say that Tigger had been bright so far throughout her stay, minus her first day, but this morning she seemed very quiet. Caroline took them back up to the house and gave her fluids. She rang the vet to chat but they had a very unsavvy crappy rabbit vet on call so she said she would try again tomorrow.
PM Had a photo from Caroline showing me more rubbish poo from Tigger No longer formed like it was yesterday, back to complete mess. Caroline let me know the buns are both staying up the house again. They were both down the rescue yesterday and stayed down there the night but have gone back up with her so she can observe them more. She said Tigger is bright enough now but she is just stuck in a rut and is giving her a list of meds as long as her arm.
She said 'so sorry she is sick' which is so lovely, she's been a rock. She also thanked me for giving Gavin and Stacey a holiday
You guys have been amazing too, so a massive THANKYOU

Glad she's finally on the mend! You must miss them so much. I think I would be in bits if this had happened to one of mine. She is in the best place and I think you are right to leave her there even though it's obviously hard for you.

Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
Caroline has been in contact this morning.
She's waiting for her vet and her mentor Gillian Knight to phone- hoping for ideas and hopefully they can contact a specialist. Tigger still has diarrhoea but there is larger quantity of the stuff than before and she's not sure if this is good or bad. Bad obviously that she has diarrhoea but good that she's eating more and things seem to be passing through better than they were. She's hopping about still and Caroline said 'so sorry this is not getting better yet but only good thing is I think I feel more sick about it than she does! What a fighter.'
Poor baby. She's doing so well bless her.
EDIT: Just had a chat with Caroline and we are both banging our heads against the wall because neither of us though about Coccidia!
I know it's a long shot, but this is the eighth day she's been ill. Probably her 6th day of diarrhoea since we had two break days where nothing came out. Unfortunately her favourite rabbit vet isn't in today and the vet she spoke to said she would need a faecal sample and won't give her the baycox right away like her favourite vet would have done. This means 2 days waiting for results and another two days for her to fight.
Caroline thought it would be worth a shot if I rang and said I give permission for them to give the meds to Caroline right away without sample or before results come back, but they said no
Caroline's going to take in a sample anyway and in the meantime see if her friend has any Baycox. She remembers using baycox in the past and it has worked wonders for other bunnies it's as if there is some magical ingredient in there where other things don't work (like we are experiencing now)
She's worried the results will come back saying she doesn't need it as she has a lot of experience of faecal samples being quite rubbish saying a bun doesn't need something.
Lots of prayers needed that Tigger can keep fighting and we find a cure/reason! Really hoping some baycox can be found and that it will work. If it doesn't I'm not sure what to do
It's a shame I know absolutely no rabbit people around me. So if you are near Royston/ Great Chishill and have any baycox let me know! worth a shot.

I'm so sorry Tigger's poops aren't back to normal yet, it must be worrying for you, especially as she's not with you. However, it does sound like she's in the very best hands and hopefully Caroline can get some Baycox before the two day wait. Sending lots and lots of healing vibes to Tigger, and many hugs to you as well

Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
Parsley was given 'Flagyl Suspension' to stop the diarreah when she was very bad with diarreah and ill, our vet mentioned it could be Coccidiosis we had to change our clothes and wash our hands thoroughly before we touched any other rabbits. Parsley was ill for about 3 weeks with it and had awful diarreah which was very strong smelling and quite nasty, 'Flagyl' stopped the diarreah and she is back to normal now else we thought we were going to lose her she was so ill.

Re: Vibes for Tigger please! U/D MONDAY
Thanks everyone, I am completely out of my mind. I've been quite strong all week but today when I took my mum out for her birthday I nearly broke down.
Thanks Maysie, I'll pass that on to Caroline. It's awfully scary.
We had to go ahead with the sample, none of her friends had anything to treat it. At first I was amazed at the price of a faecal sample at £57, but to be honest I just want her better so it's nothing to pay!
Vets and Caroline are quite confused at how if it is an infection- then why hasn't Jeeves got it? His tummy was a little off earlier in the week but he's fine now. They're considering a different antibiotic instead of baytril and will hopefully get the results of sample tomorrow (they're going to push it through faster) and will treat accordingly.
Another thing to consider may be X-rays.
EDIT Maysie, Tigger had her first dose of Flagyl tonight
