Alfie's eyes
Hey all
I'm a bit worried about Alfie. Since I got him from the rescue he's had a tendancy to have slightly weepy eyes occasionally but the last couple of days his eyes have been crusty each evening and I have had to bathe them clean. He doesn't seem to have much of an appetite either. Think I might take him to the vet tomorrow to get checked.

Re: Alfie's eyes
i agree i would get him checked it could be an infection and could be dangerous to his sight if left to get too bad

Re: Alfie's eyes
Poor Alfie. I'd probably take him tomorrow, if he has weepy eyes and supressed appetite it could be a teeth problem?
Lots of vibes for the little chap and for you x

Re: Alfie's eyes
Thank you both for the vibes. Caroline had her vet check him out before i adopted him and they said that his teeth were ok at the time but I am worried that it could be his teeth. I really hope not, poor little mite he's not even one yet

Re: Alfie's eyes
Not sure about it being an allergy, it could be I guess. He does eat loads and loads of hay so I guess it could be the dust? His eyes don't constantly run, it's like they have run a little but then dried because it's crusty each evening.

Aww he came from Caroline too! (I didn't realise that, sorry!) I knew you knew her but I didn't even think he was adopted from her haha.
I'll be up the rescue tomorrow actually
Well I'll be thinking of the wonderful Alfie tomorrow, I hope you find out what it is. Xx

I hope the vet can diagnose it and that it is something simple to treat!

Re: Alfie's eyes
Well, Alfie has been charging round the house like a loony this morning so I don't think he feels poorly!!!!
One of his eyes doesn't look so crusty this morning. I really don't know what to do. His vet is on holiday until Monday so if I take him today I'm not sure I will see someone who is bunny savvy.
Dotdot - he was one of the many fluffy REWs that Caroline had. He's such a gorgeous boy, so gentle and he loves a cuddle. Hope all is well at the rescue, I am going to try to get there again at some point.

Re: Alfie's eyes
I'm glad he seems to be feeling well. Since this is the case, if it were me, I'd wait until Mondayfor him to see a rabbit savvy vet. One that isn't might miss the the beginning stages of some things and miss others entirely. As long as his appetite and poos are normal that is.

Thanks for this, I decided to wait for alfie to see his own vet. He's absolutely fine in himself. Eating fine, toilet fine so hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

Re: Alfie's eyes
If he's completely bonkers then I'd wait until Monday too
Maybe he got something in there?
I'm glad he's charging round like a nutcase.
Ah I remember all those, I've a feeling one is still there.
All is good, quite packed almost at bursting point. Normally certain buns get shed and run but so packed sheds and runs have had to be separated to fit more in!

Re: Alfie's eyes
Hiya
I decided not to take him because his eyes seem fine again now. I think maybe he had been rooting about in the hay and got dust in his eyes. I am keeping a close watch on him and Violet is due her jabs soon so I will get the vet to just give him the once over when I take Violet. Thanks all for your concern. X

I talked to Caroline the other day and it sounds as though she's got a lot on her mind at the moment. She mentioned that she's got so many buns. I thought you might remember Alfie and his brothers and sisters - there were so many of them !
