Are we heading for a hay shortage
[b]Just been round 3 of the usual farms that at this time of year have there barns full to bursting with hay but none of them have any at all yet due to the unusual weather. I like to use hay for the outside guys bedding as well as munching although the crazy gang just munch it all and never mind the bedding. Is anyone else experiencing dificulty?

Re: Are we heading for a hay shortage
I think it is still a wait and see situation. Down here generally veg crops are about 2-4 weeks behind and the flowers are too. I assume the hay is the same. I know hay shortages were predicted due to the bad spring weather. I think a lot will depend on whether we get a dry hot spell now.

[b]Theres 3 farms I use 1 near Penistone and 2 over the top of high Bradfield I am only just down the road from there at Loxley so its quite easy for me but last year I got through 15 bails. Just had to go upto A hardwear shop in Stannington and got 4 small bags but works out quite expensive.

Re: Are we heading for a hay shortage
I hope there isn't a shortage down in the south west. My hay comes from Somerset by the bale and I get through 2 bales every 3 weeks. They have been harvesting hay on the Downs in Bristol. I think it must go to Bristol Zoo. I was tempted to go and fill the boot of the car with the freshly cut and turned hay

I think it's the weather.
Half because it is behind with growing but also half because it's not dry enough to harvest.
I'll be needing a new bale soon!
