Bella is still holding up her foot :( (Picture)
So as some of you may know from my previous thread , Bella was accidentally stood on the other night and she had x-rays yesterday, her foot is not broken but bruised and some broken tissue, when will she start to walk on her foot again normally and not hold it up like this? She seems to be in pain and not as lively and not eating as she normally would

She will put it down when she is ready Jack. Like humans you would expect it to take a week or so for the pain to improve and then she will probably start to put it down. You can't rush these things and she will know when the right time is to start using it again.

She will know when the time is right Jack. Is she taking her metacam ok? It's still early drags and she may still be feeling the effects of the GA. Daisy's eating normally takes a couple of days to get back to normal after one.
Sending her some gentle cuddles xx

animals know instinctively when to rest an injured limb after saying that rabbits are prey and only show pain when it is very bad so i guess it does hurt poor thing...

Yep she alway's takes metacam brilliantly, her favourite time of the day is medicine time She is eating but just does not seem as enthusiastic if that makes sense, her poor little foot must be really sore and painful Bella always bounces back and is eating straight away after every GA thankfully, she's has quite a few this past year. thank you x

Aww Bless her holding her little foot up. A bruised foot on a rabbit can be just as painful as a break and you know yourself when you bang an arm or leg you get a bruise and it can take ages to go. As long as she is on some pain relief and doesn't go mad on her poorly footsie she should be ok in a couple of day's and you will find one morning she should have her foot back down.

Hi Katie , she's still holding up her paw but not too bad but is clearly in a bit of pain she's on 0.7ml metacam twice a day but upping it to 0.8ml until she's better again how's your lot doing ?

They are doing ok thanks Jack. Annabelle seems really bright and happy - she even manages the odd Binky!! She has to go back in a couple of weeks to have her heart checked.

bless them , I love seeing binkies sadly Bella has never done them and can't because of her spinal damage and arthritis , I Hope Annabel's heart is doing well, does she have an enlarged heart ? Is she on fortekor like Bella? That stuff is brilliant , John said it's really good her heart has decreased in size , really happy she's responding well to medication hopefully she'll have longer with us and her lovely PickleKatieb wrote:They are doing ok thanks Jack. Yes she has an enlarged heart. Sadly fortekor didn't work for her nd her heart continues to increase in size. She is on an alternative medication that helps her but I think we have to make the most of the time we have and hope for a miracle when she has her check.
