Flopsy has a poorly toe/nail.
Flopsy has somehow managed to catch his toe nail on something and it has now bent right up .
I have no clue what he would of caught it on or how it got pushed so far up, He will let me examine it and I believe his toe is ok although I am not a vet so can't confirm that it is not fractured or broken but to me it seems like it's just the nail.
He does not seem to be in any pain or discomfort, His metacam controls most of his pain so he should be OK for now, I hope.
I just hope it does not get infected, There is no open wound or cuts so hopefully should be ok.
Here is his poor little nail.
I am going to email JC my vet with the photo and see what he suggests. We will obviously go on Tuesday to get it sorted out.
Any Advice?

Re: Flopsy has a poorly toe/nail.
I know this is a daft question, but is it still attached?
Would you gain anything by trimming it?

Yes I was going to say could you trim it back slightly. We have had this happen to one of our bun's before today and we just trimmed it back so that it wouldn't catch on anything and kept an eye on him and he was ok.

We've had it happen too. Trimmed it back gently and it was OK. Just don't cut it too short like I did! It was the first time I had cut one.

Dolly has one like this. To this day I have no idea how she has done it, its still attached and I wondered if she had broken her toe, but it doesnt bother her. I just keep it short.

Re: Flopsy has a poorly toe/nail.
Well it was nothing serious fortunately. John just kind of snapped it off and showed me that there's a new nail starting to grow. I've got to bathe his foot in salted water .
I was expecting surgery or something but he only snapped it off, at least I'll know for next time.
Pickle had his combi jab topped up and all is ok with him .
I told John I've ordered the oxbow joint supplements that contain glucosamine and he seemed impressed , he did say it'll take 8 weeks to have an effect. I've ordered him the SS mature pellets too which look good.
John is such a nice vet , he asked how my exams went and I said they went 'ok' and I said that I'm going to go to Sparsholt college and he said he'll see me there as he's there on a thursday.

I'm glad it went fine for both of them and that you have such a great vet as that is such a weight off one's mind
