Re: Increased fluid intake!?! Advice please
Well, I thought I'm really clever, mind this is hoomins first mistake, and mix all his medication together.paullp wrote:lots and lots of vibes for Bertie, hope he gets better soon and isn't too annoyed with you for giving him baytril
0.7 of baytril with 0.4 of metacam which is sweet should be done with no problems.
Another syringe with bait of apple/mango juice to be given before and after-all easy ehh?
He took the first little bit and then started to spit it out, seriously spitting it out over the floor and me
So I went to use the mini shreddies which were spit out to...
Did something I do not agree with and turned him into half TI and squirted the rest of it in his mouth
Straight followed by dinner of fresh dandelion, goose berry leafs and hawthorn tops with apple, pars ip and pear toppings and at least 100000000 apologies for treating him like this.:-((((
Got another five days to go and threat each time. Just ont want him to associate me with bad taste.
Gentle giant that he is he still gave me a lick by the end of it.
Hunmum full of guild and sorrow.

Re: Increased fluid intake!?! Advice please
Here is a question, and I will discuss with the vet tomorrow.
Does baytril come as an injection? If yes Im prepared to do this. As a nurse I have got no issue with this. But to see him shaking his head and using his paws to wipe of the taste he can't get to???
Not easy one for me.
A little shar scratch may be an option

Re: Increased fluid intake!?! Advice please
Yes, you can inject Baytril. It's well worth asking about and let Humum know as she much prefers giving injections to oral meds. The only drawback might be if there is a good reason for it to go through his digestive system rather than his bloodstream, but I doubt it.
Don't worry about him hating you for ever. In our experience, the buns who are people friendly (our Layla and Rosie) are quick to forgive when the trauma is over, and the ones who are distinctly un-people friendly (Smudge and Ronnie) actually get more used to being handled anyway

Re: Increased fluid intake!?! Advice please
I am sorry he is ill hun and sending mega vibes.
He wont hate you, Dougal is really bad at taking meds, he hates them, ask Sparky's humum who will tell you what it was like when he was a baby, he may be better now he is older but hoping not to have to find out. He forgave me fine, he remembered Amanda trying to syringe him to death so was wary but he has soon forgiven her and is fine around her now. They forgive easily and love so would not worry, he may be grumpy for few days after it is all done but he will forgive you. I think deep down they know it helps as they start to get better.

Spoken to the vet. She wants him to have the oral one
She suggested tiny amounts of baby food and to mix it in there. Wish I would have known this when doing my shopping.
Got him fresh mango and melon pieces. Maybe try this tonight.
Watch the space!

Gentl, that's the plan. Small pieces of mango and melon bribed with baytril. He was to say at
East cautious when I gave him a beetroot crunchies after his grooming session earlier. He might suspect something???
