feeling frustrated :(
Went to see pebbles today to make a change from phoning about her, and got told she's reserved. I've phoned every 1 or 2 weeks since i saw her almost two months ago, and every time was told she's still under the vet so can't be rehomed yet. I asked when I saw her originally if I could reserve her or register my interest for when she was better, and was told no. Now I'm told that someone else has been allowed to reserve her despite her not being ready. They tried to say it was because she was bonded to one of the boy rabbits there, but that clearly isn't the case as they are in separate cages.
So I thought I'd phone RSPCA south bucks branch since they had quite a few single girls available, and was made to feel like a terrible rabbit owner, Hec's cage is much too small, and he should run around my room at night when I'm asleep (like I'd get any sleep), and I'm too far away to adopt from there, they won't let the northants branch do the home check. What's the point of having a national rescue centre if the branches won't work together.
All I want is to find Hec a wifebun, but currently I feel like the enemy. At this point I don't want to phone any other rescues, after wasting almost two months on one, and being made to feel like a s**t bunny owner by another, I can't take anymore of this disappointment. I've half a mind to just go back to the breeder I got Hec from, at least she was friendly and supportive. She asked me lots of questions about where he'd be kept, what he'd be fed, neutering, jabs etc, but was never mean or rude.

Re: feeling frustrated :(
I would be annoyed too :-/ So many buns needing a home and you are first messed around and then slagged off.
You know me though, I'm still going to encourage you to go down the rescue route
Are there any non RSPCA rescues around near you?
Have you looked on rabbit rehome?

Re: feeling frustrated :(
Yeah looked at bucks, northants and herts. A lot of the problem is his size, he is soooo teeny, and all the buns for adoption are huge

Re: feeling frustrated :(
I wouldn't let the size difference put you off. Some times little and large can be the best of buds
I also wouldn't let anyone tell me I was a bad rabbit owner Stand up to them and tell them they're wrong if they do

Re: feeling frustrated :(
It irks me that she said his cage wasn't big enough, but didn't bother asking how big he is!!
I'm going to sleep on it tonight, but I'm considering getting a nethie girl, if I talk to the breeder and am satisfied they'll accept her back if they don't get on.
I know they can, but knowing hec, I can't see him getting on with a bun that's a lot bigger than him, it's just a gut feeling.

Re: feeling frustrated :(
Julia has 2 females of mixed breed looking for their forever homes both are unneutered however she would be happy to trial one to see how they get along with him? Not sure of the ages tbh but are definitely adults if you are interested?

Eep, I love the ginger one, my only concern is whether i could try bonding them before she was neutered? Would I be able to come and see them?

Honeybunnies rescue is in Leicestershire. Gabriel and Bobbin came from there.

Re: feeling frustrated :(
Oh dear I'm sorry you had such an experience. The same happened when I was looking for a hunbun for Bertie. A renowned local rescue refused to rehome one of their girls after the quest entire and my photos were send. It led me to do more research and I found HH this way.
I think the problem is that they have standards and guidelines but not much space for the individual. Please don't be put off going the rescue route. I got bubbles from the blue cross and they were very helpful and supportive. I felt hurt and disappointed at the time because I was told Bertie needs a constant outside run. He didn't! He was a happy hunbun loved and cared for and I failed the questionaere as my answer to EC wasn't complete enough.
I send you the most encouraging hugs possible:hugs:

There is a Facebook group called anybunnez who rehome buns rescued from gumtree - and they do it all over the country. It's worth getting into their page hun.

Re: feeling frustrated :(
its probably best not to choose a bun ask the rescue if they have any single female buns and then let hector choose his partner. This is the best way rather than getting your heart set on one in particular.
