Another attempted Juno bonding.
If anyone remembers last time we tried the carrier method for bonding but Juno was too aggressive to even put them in together let alone go for a walk with them. Today they had half an hour together in the hallway and armed with a spray bottle I pretty much followed them everywhere.
Both were washing and binkying but the problem keeps occuring when they end up face to face and Juno becomes scared and 75% of the time digs and nips at Marleys head, Marley will retaliate but won't start a squabble.
They are living side by side currently and I think they really are the type that will benefit from a slow bonding, I feel more hopeful after today but it isn't love at first sight by any means.
I do have plan B which is to try Juno with the very submissive Fiver after his dental if things are not progressing between her and Marley, as unlike Marley, Fiver will not fight back.
I'm not really a fan of slow bonding by any means but wondered if some people have found a tricky pairing successful using his method?

Aw Juno, bless her. Fingers crossed that she realises the joy of being with another bunny and relaxes a wee bit.

Re: Another attempted Juno bonding.
I've found sticking Phil in the hallway calms her down, she is petrified of him.
Re: Another attempted Juno bonding.
I had problems with Gloria and Wolfie to begin with. They seemed fine together, he did lots of humping, then she got really annoyed and they started to fight. It was like something out a cartoon with fur flying everywhere. She ended up with a bitten nose and he had a cut ear.
I then kept them in the same compound but let then loose alternately. I did that for about three months and then one day, she escaped from her bit. They must have fought a little as there was clumps of hair, but when I found them they were sitting together and she had 'convinced' him that she should be boss. They have been fine ever since.
I found that letting them be able to smell each other and both use the same piece of territory independently, ie. marking and piddling, helped them get used to each other.

Haha! Gloria convinced him she should be boss.... :lol!:
Juno is such a feisty madam isn't she. I can't believe it. She is such a wee thing.

Re: Another attempted Juno bonding.
Marley has taken a tuft of fur off her today with some skin attatched but I cannot for the life of me find where it has come from, it's only superficial but I can't even find a bald patch.

How are Juno and Marley today, Sooz? Any good news?
Can we have an update on Mack too?

Re: Another attempted Juno bonding.
We've had a re-think as my gut feeling is (and was from several months back) that these two are not compatible. Fiver is having a dental tomorrow and needs some alone time to build his weight back up so my plan is to bring him inseide and bond Marley back with Fivers partner Scout (they used to be a trio).
Fiver is by far the most submissive bunny I have and I always felt he might be better suited to Juno than Marley, so after a couple of weeks I will try him & Juno together. Hopefully this will work as after that I am out of options for her to have a buddy, and it is going to cause issues with holiday boarding too.
I will do a Mack update soon.

It does sound more hopeful Sooz! Fingers crossed that it sticks this time...
Re: Another attempted Juno bonding.
At least you gave it a go - fingers crossed here too that Fiver is more to her liking xx
