Hello from Felix the bunny!

Hello just wanted to say hello to everyone.
I signed up with this site a couple of weeks ago as we were thinking of getting a bunny for my kids! Although the one we got today is sooo mine!

I have added a little picture of his ride home in the car. Not really safe for him to be on my lap but I just wanted to cuddle him all the way.
I have a friend who breeds and shows rabbits and went to see him today at a show he organises and guess what we came home with. Yes thats right our newest member of our family "Felix".

He got his name from the Dutch for Lucky, he is a netherland dwarf so we thought would give him something original with a little twist.

We are very new to owning rabbits and am looking forward to getting any advice from you experienced bunny owners so that we can give our little en the best start possible. Please any advice will be greatly accepted.

Thanks for the intro, Felix is quite gorgeous You'll have a few vets trips coming up on the nearish future, for jabs and plums etc, and you can get a decent carrier for about a tenner

You'll find lots of advice scouring the boards, you can search for different topics, but you might be best to start with reading the Rabbit care articles. Is he going to be indoor or outdoor? There's some good books you could get as well which will help, (see book reviews in Tall tails & Rabbit chat) and in the meantime, please feel free to ask anything, no question is a daft one to a new owner, we all started somebun ago

I've got a Felix too! He is called Felix because we found him and took him in and I reckoned that he was a really lucky little chap!

Great minds thinking alike for names then! Felix is an outdoor bun and by jees he loves it out there. He has been out in his run all day and sulked when I put had to put him away so hubby could cut the grass.
He came out a little while later so that my nephews girlfriend could take some pictures of him. Will post them once she puts them on to the computer. She loved the way he stands up on his back legs looking around. Its as though he is looking at what trouble he can get in to.

I am taking him to see the vet this week so that he can give him a little check over and I knew he had to have a needle but wasnt sure when. I have no idea what you mean by "plums". Hubby thinks you mean having him neutered, to which we have said he will be getting done once we are sure he is a little boy and he is old enough. He should be getting a new house mate in a couple of weeks too so would like to avoid any accidents!

I have got a little carrier for him now so he can be safely driven to see our nice vet, and thanks for the tips on the books, am off to shop online now for a few books that will keep me busy for a while.

Hey there Alex, your new bunny is just gorgeous. If you ever think about getting him/her a friend, as rabbits are best if they are kept with company of their own kind, then please look at our rescue section. There are so many bunnies out there, needing kind, loving homes x
