Think I am losing Rory ud He is back from the vets
Never wanted to type these words. I told you I have noticed some weight loss. Today, I went to get him some panacur from the vets and when I came home to give it to him he was very weak and collapsed. I rushed him straight to the vets who examined him really well. He thinks its his teeth and is admitting him tommorow morning, he gave him a drip and sent me home with some build up powder. I am not convinced at his diagnosis. Rory had always had a bumpy jaw and has never had problems before. He is eating fine and pooing ok to. The vet doesnt think he will make it and I am devastated although, apart from him not being able to jump on the sofa as usuall he is washing, hopping around, eating and drinking, weeing and pooing so I dont know. I cant stop crying but then think he will be ok. I am stumped. I still think it could be EC and wonder if I should continue with the panacur tomorrow before I take him in.
Help please.
Help please.

really sorry to hear your news. So is he going in first thing for a dental? i don't see that the panacur will do any damage so you might as well start him on it now? is your vet a rabbit savvy one? did he have a really good look at his molars?

He didnt even look at his teeth. I have never seen that vet before the the practice has a good rep with rabbits and I have always taken them there. He is going in tomorrow so they can look then. Not sure what they will do!

Hope everything is ok with Rory tomorrow and maybe you could ask to see a different vet for a second opinion.

he sounds like a fricking moron! Hope you aren't seeing him tomorrow - get his name so you can make sure you never have an appointment with him again. Fingers crossed for Rory - hope they diagnose it and sort it out.

Re: Think I am losing Rory ud He is back from the vets
I'm really sorry to hear this Tracy. I would definately Panacur him but also ask your vets to run a full blood profile to test his liver and kidney function. Also keep a very close eye on his hydration and urination levels.
Re: Think I am losing Rory ud He is back from the vets
After feeding him through the night and being terrified everytime I went down stairs, Rory seemed a bit better this morning. Still week but enjoyed his breakfast and had a hop around. Took him too the vets who admitted him for a dental. I was so worried that they were giving him GA because of how weak he was/ is. After phoning at 2 she said I could go collect him. I got there and she said that he is now eating really well to which I replied, "he always has" She was quite surprised at this and said but he is so skinny. This has only happened over the past week as I keep a very close eye on all my buns. Anyway she said his teeth werent too bad, just a few spurs so I still think its a worms, parasite, EC type thing. I am going to continue with Panacur and just build his weight back up because thats the only thing that seems wrong with him now. Once he is a bit fatter I think he will gain a bit more strength.
Still cant believe all of this. I have been on pins all day at school.
One good thing though...before all this happened I went to see docs about myself. He said I had very low blood pressure. Think I can say that it may have gone up a bit now!

Re: Think I am losing Rory ud He is back from the vets
That sounds encouraging news, i'm relieved and hope that Rory gets to put some weight on. Does he eat soaked oats?
Re: Think I am losing Rory ud He is back from the vets
well at least his teeth are sorted now - if he had some painful spurs it might have been that. Good to panacur as well. He looks so soft a squidgy in your siggy - hope he is back to that soon.

Re: Think I am losing Rory ud He is back from the vets
Thanks Jay, He will eat anything so will try him on that. He has just had half a rich tea biscuit and I am going to give him some wheetabix later. I think if I can get his weight back up he will be fine.
He doesnt really look like his siggy pic at the moment Rachel, he is very thin, has food all round his chin and looks a bit dirty as he is struggling to clean himself as he is so thin. Will give him a good bath when he is back to norm!

Re: Think I am losing Rory ud He is back from the vets
He is ok. Still very weak, by that I mean he is hopping around the living room but cant jump on or off the sofa. Tried him on oats and he wasnt keen, didnt like the wheatabix either. Went to get him some cheap bunny sweets from pet shop and he has had a few of them with a few digestives. Just trying him with anything and everything that I know is safe for him to eat. He is very dirty today too. He is such a worry but I am trying to stay positive!

We all know buns that have pulled through this type of thing Tracy, your positive attitude will help I'm sorry you're not having much luck with the foods, does Rory eat toast? You could try a corner. I don't really know what else to suggest, I'll ask my bunny expert friend, i'm seeing her Friday

Thanks everyone, Thanks Jay. I will try some toast. He has just had a corner of a rich tea biscuit. I am a bit cross as he was eating fine before they did his dental.
