Vibes for Ivy Please - now for Timmy
Ivy decided to eat a whole bowl of dry cat food Out of all my bunnies it had to be him He now has the most horrendous upset tummy he's ever had - it's never been this bad - I used to think he had bad tummies, but it's been nothing like this So after chattin to my vet we're back on fibreplex big time and going up there in 2 hours for some meds. Anyway, most of you know how special he is to me, and how hard he fought to survive his first year - so I'd really appreciate all the vibes you can spare for him to get through this, and to be able to live without fibreplex some day again.

Oh Kirsty what a shame. I hope that he can make a recovery.
Can't believe he would want to eat cat food. What a boy.

Re: Vibes for Ivy Please - now for Timmy
Well I caught Benji tryin to get it now too!! must be some sort of yummy
Richard (vet) gave him a jab of painkiller which is also an anti inflammatory, which also makes the gut absorb more water (he went into great explanatory detail which kindda flew over my head ) but he said he has a good nights worth of runny poop left in him, (which i was thinking humm knowing Ivy it could last a week) and there was no point for antibiotics because we know the cause is rich food, not bacterial etc He also said to watch his wee, because kitten food is full of calcium, and rabbits get gall stones when they have too much calcium - so vibes that he doesn't get any!!
But the best part is that it didn't cost a penny!!! It's all covered by the vet insurance plan I just saved about £45/50 Which had I still been on pet plan, I would of just had to pay!
At the moment my poor boy is hidding and looking very sorry for himself, but hopefully the pain killer should kick in soon and he'll feel a bit better!!

Re: Vibes for Ivy Please - now for Timmy
Oooh tell more about the Vet Insurance Scheme. I am with Pet Plan and my excess is £45 which doesn't cover you for little things like that. Glad he has had his meds and hopefully will be feeling better although a bit chastened.
Bad Benji! (We really need a wagging finger icon for these occasions)

OH no, sending loads of vibes. I don't know why but rabbits seem to love cat biscuits. I have had 2 that have had a fetish for it now. Mind you they have only ever had the odd nibble, not eaten the entire thing! Naughty Ivy. Big hugs and vibes coming your way.

I just saw the advert in the vets, they offer an insurance scheme, which is £6 for rabbits £12 for cats and £14 for dogs (each month) - this covers all their appointments (emergency and booked) operations medications/treatments (from appointments) and vaccinations (If paid yearly you get free neutering and chipping) They are not covered for pre-exsiting conditions, however if they are not treated for that condition for a year, it then becomes covered by the plan. I receive 25% of all flea and worming treatments all foods that they stock (arden grange and royal canin) also 25% of any medication/treatment for pre-exsisting problems. There are 3 stated exclusions - I have to still pay for a call out, I have to pay for lab tests, and I have to pay if I have purposefully harmed my animal. So basically every time I go to the vet now, it doesn't cost me a penny I have savings for lab fees if that ever happens, and for Brackens leg, Benji's eyes etc. - My pet plan excess was £45 - it just turned out to be a large expense that wasn't that helpful - For my bunnies now I pay £72 (per bunny) each year about £42 of that covers vaccinations which leaves £30 a year for all my problems like Ivy yesterday - so basically i haven't even finished the year yet and I've already saved about £15 on vets fees by paying into the plan, not to mention cutting out the pet plan cost. - I can only save more as the year goes on! I think it's amazing and ALL vets should offer it!!!
Re: Vibes for Ivy Please - now for Timmy
Ivy is still the same - But it's hard for him, because he copes very well with being sick as he was sick for so long as a baby. He isn't as active as normal, snd you can tell his not right (no cheekyness) Benji and Bracken both keep giving him lots of kisses, so they know too. But he's eating as usuall (nothing can put him off his food - it's an impossibility ) Still lots of messy poo, and a yucky bum, but it's Ivy, it's nothing too new. I think he's delighted to be offered Fibreplex again, he does love the stuff, and Benji and Bracken are getting very jealous, so they are now getting some too.
Thank you for all your vibes, He hasn't got worse so they really mean a lot!! Though he has never had this bad a tummy I'm pretty sure now he's gonna be okay, it was just over night and this morning that i was worried he may get worse. The jab had helped him because he isn't as hunched as he was or looking as misrable, but you can still tell something is up (the door has been wide open for the past hour and he hasn't even moved - normally he'd be gone in a flash downstairs)
A the moment he and Benji are havin a snuggle and a groom in the litter box

Re: Vibes for Ivy Please - now for Timmy
That sounds like a fantastic scheme. I wonder if I could get my vets to think about it!
I am glad the wee rascal is getting better slowly. I bet it hasn't taught him anything though.

Re: Vibes for Ivy Please - now for Timmy
Ivy is doing much better now, his poo is getting solid again now, and he's becoming all cheeky and naughty again!!
But Timmy is bad now it goes from one to the other I think I'm losing him slowly I've moved him and Missy inside today. but my inside accommodation is really tiny for them - it's really only a sort term place. Hopefully on sunday I can buy something for them to live in thats a bit bigger the only problem is Timmy, needs it all on one level (he can barely get in and out of the litter tray), and Missy needs space, and climbing and lots of things he's not well enough to be paired with her anymore, but i can't split them either. I don't know what to do anymore. I haven't been able to give him what he needs, and I just don't know what to do, where to put them, what to give them. I'm totally stuck!!
