What flea treatment?
Hi I am a new bunny mummy but i have heard not to use frontline on bunnies, but I am worried because my other furries need there flea treatment and have always used frontline on them so worried about Sonny coming into contact with it. What do other people do about this? should I change there flea treatment? Also do bunnies need routine flea treatment like other furries or is it more a if you need it treatment? and which one should I use?
Thanks in advance

Re: What flea treatment?
Hi - I used Advantage (from the vet) when one of our six - won't name the bun for fear of causing embarrasment - had fleas.
It is easy to use, drops onto the skin.
And you are right about Frontline - it is dangerous to buns.
I have never (touchwood) had to use the Advantage again, all the buns have remained flea free

Re: What flea treatment?
I have used Advantage too (rather the buns have)
I used it for our RIP bun Holly, who arrived from her old home with a few cat fleas. Once they were gone, I didn't use it regularly. I usually give the others a treatment at the beginning of Spring then just keep an eye on them for scratching.

Re: What flea treatment?
I would caution against using Xenex if your vet recommends it, despite being licenced for rabbits it causes a lot of nasty side-effects and has been suspected of causing death too.
Advantage is prescription so you need to see your vet but I believe Bob Martin do an over the counter small pet flea treatment.....check the label to be sure it's safe for rabbits first though.

Bertie was prescribed Xenex and had a horrible reaction to it, I wouldn't use it again. My vets stock Advantage now too.
