broken toe
I got home tonight and found Pirate seems to have a broken back toe - is sticking out almost at right angles at the knuckle closest to the claw - anyone know anything about rabbit's with broken toes and what my vet is likely to do?

Re: broken toe
In humans they would tape it to the next toe. Suppose they would do the same with a bun although the fur might be a problem. At least it would keep it secure until a vet had a look.

Re: broken toe
Noo has broken two toes - one on each foot
In the first instance the toe was laying straight so her foot was not strapped. The second time as the toe was out of line the vet splinted it using a cotton bud and then bandaged it. Noo was reasonably good and waited 48 hours before chewing the bandage off. The second bandage lasted mere hours. At that point I gave up as the toe was pretty much back in the right place.
I just gave her metacam for a few days. Thankfully, as Noo is a very sedentary bunny she was not using the damaged foot very much which obviously helped.
Poor Pirate - am sending some bone mending vibes xx

Re: broken toe
Ouch poor pirate! Hopefully with enough pain killers he'll be ok.
