Hughie moved back out today...
and i put some NIC grids in to make a shelf for him so he can see out of the window and watch the world go by. He seems to really like sitting in the window now!
He has a little den underneath where he can flop out on his fleece if he wants to. - Im trying to work out what it causing the problem with his hocks. It has got worse since he was on soft surfaces, so im going to see how he goes with mostly lino.

Oh how lovely, he is such a lovely chap x we covered everything in really soft fleece when Diaz had sore hocks as I think the carpet was doing it to him.

Re: Hughie moved back out today...
Its just process of elimination, but i know i may never find out the cause. It got worse since he was bedded on soft fleece, and i know some people say it can be soft surfaces, or hard surfaces and abrasive surfaces sometimes. I have given him a bit of fleece in the playhouse to snuggle on, but the rest is lino, to see if that makes a difference. They are no worse than what Skye used to get, and she never had real sore hocks, they were just calous pink spots that kept clearing up and coming back from time to time. Whe shall see what happens, fingers crossed they will just clear up without me having to make too many changes or putting anything on them.Katieb wrote:Oh how lovely, he is such a lovely chap x we covered everything in really soft fleece when Diaz had sore hocks as I think the carpet was doing it to him.
I spoke to a breeder today, and she said he can only be full english ( ) because if he were crossed with anything else (except for a dalmation rex) then he would be patchy rather than spotty, and if he was crossed with a Dal Rex then he would be much bigger than your normal English bun. She said it may just have been the bad start in life, and it wouldnt surprise me, as hes only 9 months and hes not been fed properly, so he may have missed out the the extra nutrients that young bunnies need.

Re: Hughie moved back out today...
you've inspired me with that, it's such a good idea to give them the ability to be able to look outside!

Because he put his bottom in my face! ....and he has a floofy tail!! I bought a load of willow toys today, so he shall get some tomorrow. He may have willow ball envy though, Marley and Dolly's one is bigger
ETA: He loves his C&C shelf! He didnt eat much hay last night, and every time i look out of the window, he is sat in his window! I had to put a litter tray and some hay up there for him

He is such a handsome rabbit. You can get the panels by the panel at office supply stores. Just watch the grid size. They are $1.19 as a rule here.

I've done a lot of online searching for them, I think that ebay is the cheapest place to find them, but I'm always a bit nervous about using ebay! I was hoping there would be a store somewhere that did sell them. I've been umming and ahhing for ages about whether to get a dog crate or some grids.. to be honest, in the time it's taken me to decide he's ended up more like a free range bunny anyway!

Re: Hughie moved back out today...
The Preston branch normally has them, although it's the only place we do still find them regularly. So they are still available - I don't know whether your local branch might be able to get some sent up. I left some details on my Upstairs, Downstairs threadmarleyNfriends wrote:Rachel&Nibbler wrote: you've inspired me with that, it's such a good idea to give them the ability to be able to look outside!
