nail clipping nightmare

Poor Myrtle , when I was trimming her nails she twisted and ran off. I was about to cut one of her nails on her front paw and it has twisted the outside of the nail off leaving a clear pokey inner bit of nail behind . There was blood but it stopped quickly with some styptic.

She seems fine now and is tucking into hay, she isn't limping or protecting her paw in any way.

Please may she have some healthy foot vibes?

I often think nail cutting is more traumatic for us than it is to them.

Myrtle, you have to sit still and let your Hudad clip your claws or you might have to go to the V.E.T. to have them done and that's just horrid.

I feel so bad for hurting her she is a very special bun. She is giving her paw and the rest of herself lots of cleaning now.

I didn't get round to the back paws but I think I will see the vet about it as they can check her hurt front paw too.

I always get the vets to do Bruce's if he is having his teefs done. Much easier when knocked out! If she is not limping or hiding then the chances are that she is fine.

Oh, we know all about nail-clipping traumas in this house! My two had theirs done on Friday and poor Mojo was so distressed. I take them to a very knowledgeable guy who knew Willow when she was a baby. All he asks for is a donation to the charity box at the pet shop to do it, and he gets to see that Willow is well and happy

Thanks for all the wonderful HH foot-healing vibes! After a sleepless night and much snoozing on Sunday, Myrtle was terribly excited about her breakfast this morning, tearing around the room like a wild thing (back to normal!)! Late this afternoon she spent time racing full-speed around the garden, eyeing-up the outdoor buns, who eyed her up suspiciously in return...we therefore conclude she is back to her happy self!
