worming
Hi everyone, wonder if you can help me please.
I need to worm my bunnies, and previously I have used panacur sheep wormer as previously suggested by someone [cant remember who sorry] but cant for the life of me remember the dosage?? im guesing around 0.5ml??? seeing as I give the cavies 0.2-0.4ml per pig [also suggested to me]
ALSO how old can they be wormed at? I have just bought an adorable german lop who is 12 weeks, is he too young to treat?
any help is really appriciated!

Hi hun Panacur now do rabbit wormer which you can buy in Pets At Home. It gives you the doseage on the back xxx
Re: worming
I would use a wormer for rabbits, the dosage is on the packaging, I wouldn't use anything else

Re: worming
You have opened a whole can of worms with that question
Panacur is used for two conditions that I know of
- Treatment of intestinal worms. BJ and/or Rosie have had worms a couple of times, the horrid things were visible in their poops. A 9 day course of Panacur soon cleared them. I would only use Panacur in this instance as needed not routinely as a preventative.
- Prevention/treatment of EC (Encephalitozoon Cuniculi, which is a parasite of the CNS). The manufacturer of Panacur, and many vets will tell you that a 9 day course 2/3/4 times a year will prevent EC, but current thinking is that a 9 day course will have no impact on prevention or indeed treatment. A rabbit suspected of suffering with EC will need a 28 day or 6 week (depending who you ask) course of Panacur as treatment. It is probably good practice to treat a new bunny with a 28 day course or if they have been boarded elsewhere.
There is a thread somewhere, I will see if I can find it.
Personally I only worm ours now if I know they are suffering with intestinal worms, or if EC was suspected.

Re: worming
The liquid Panacur doseage is 0.2ml per kg. There is no lower age limit on when it can be used.
Re: worming
Ok, thanks ones again for the valuable information.

Re: worming
I'd say Panacur Paste is the best broad spectrum wormer and the best value for money. Id suggest you buy on line and get the best possible price.
