Vanessa, I am so sorry to hear this. Noo is such a little lady and to put up with Gabe for so long is a miracle. I hope that it isn't as serious as it sounds but if it is, I know she will live out what is left of her life in comfort and surrounded by love. xx

Re: Two stasis bunnies U/D Noo home but not good news
Thank you for your kind words.
Having lost two cats with renal failure I know that we are fighting a losing battle. The vet could give me no idea of how long Noo may have, as with many things with rabbits renal failure is not well documented. We didn't feel anything would be gained by X-raying or carrying out ultrasound on her kidneys to see just how bad things are. It wouldn't really alter the treatment or the end result.
Sadly, it is already obvious that Noo has lost her appetite. Previously her one big pleasure in life was her food bowl, now she is only picking at bits and pieces, Not enough really Tomorrow I will start to syringe feed her too, as long as she doesn't object. She is very good, so far, in taking the meds so hopefully she will accept some food too.
I also need to try and sort out a bigger area in the conservatory for her. I daren't let her have free range as everything in it is new. She has spent some time on the sofa with us tonight. She is such a little duck, I hope the meds help her to feel a little better. I do know that renal failure in humans makes us feel lousy

Bunches and bunches of healing vibes for little Noo. Has you water been tested? Loosing two cats to renal failure and now Noo with renal failure is cause for suspicion. I hope all the humans in your house are OK.

Re: Two stasis bunnies U/D Noo home but not good news
We are all fine thank you. My first cat started with renal failure at a different address so it seems unlikely there would be a connection. It is very common in cats unfortunately.
As for my little Noo, she was not happy to be syringe fed this morning - I only managed a small amount before she had had enough and with meds still to come I didn't want to stress her. So her breakfast this morning consisted of one oxbow pellet, three or four pieces of dried herbs and one strand of hay She did eat these of her own accord but it cannot be enough to keep her going. She refused the selection of fresh herbs I offered her. She is pooing but of course the poos are miniscule.
However she is still bright and hopping around. We will just have to take one day at a time.

Re: Two stasis bunnies U/D Noo home but not good news
It's awful when one day they will happily syringe feed and the next they refuse.
It's good to know she is still herself, seeing her hopping around happily must give you some comfort at least.
Lots of love being sent your way xxx

Re: Two stasis bunnies U/D Noo home but not good news
Again, thank you for all your kind thoughts.
Nia seems to be doing quite well. She is active and looking bright and interested in her surroundings. She has had some breakfast this morning, refused pellets, but has had a couple of carrot tops and some parsley and coriander. I did catch her nibbling some hay yesterday but obviously no where near enough as her poops are miniscule.
I do have somr fibreplex in but as she objected to being syringe fed yesterday I am not sure she will welcome having this forced upon her. She is such a good girl about having her meds that I don't want to turn this into a battle too.
To look at her, she seems no different but she is not right in that she is being very picky about food and not eating as much. So for now I am just going to find out what she does want to eat then make sure that is always available. In that respect she is better apart from Gabriel so that I can monitor what she eats. It will not be an option to syringe feed if/when she stops eating for herself as at that point it will be time to let her go.
We are due at the vets next week for a check up/blood test which should give us a better idea as to whether she has deteriorated or is stable. I am aware that she has lost weight.
I do feel very sorry for Gabe on his own I have sent for some more toys for him. However it is just not the right time for me though to take on another rabbit for him. I would maybe consider trying to bond him with Herbie and Hollie but again with everything that is going on this is not an option right now.
Needless to say, I am a tad stressed with all this
