Charlie has Eaten
A blimmin Tulip together with leaves, petals and stalk.
Im sure they were on the toxic list!
It had sprung up in our garden and I covered it with the propagator so he couldnt get at it.
Matt had let the buns out to free range in the garden when he got in and when he went to check on them Annie was frantically digging at the bottom of it. When matt went to see what the problem was Charlie had got himself stuck inside........he wasnt bothered at all, he was too busy eating the tulip.
Does anyone know anything about this - is there anything I should do? He is eating and pooing fine tonight.

Re: Charlie has Eaten
I would have thought it was the bulb that was especially poisonous. Seeing as he didn't eat that I would keep and eye and keep your fingers crossed.

Re: Charlie has Eaten
The bulb part Katie is very poisonous, if he's not eaten the bulb he should be ok but just keep an eye on him.
Apple Seeds contain cyanide and should be removed, we use an apple corer that takes the middle out of the apple.... seeds and all.

Re: Charlie has Eaten
Norty Charlie I hope he's not suffered any ill-effects.
Tulips are my Humum's favourite flowers, but she only has them in tubs round the front so we can't get at them. Or she did until the horrible little chav child who used to live next door beheaded them all

No obvious ill effects........he seems fine.
There was only the one - it was very pretty.
On the plus side, I love that charlie is feeling up to being naughty!

Re: Charlie has Eaten
Here we usually have plant the bulbs inside a wire basket sort of thing to keep the wildies from digging them up and eating the bulbs in the Winter when food gets scarce. I know they are toxic, but perhaps the wildies can tolerate them?
I'm just so glad Charlie is OK, Katie! Give him a nose touch for me!
