It's been a rubbish day here in Rabbit-Robo Towers. I've spent most of it in tears, and it's just been such hard work.

Last night, I had to wake up the Diddy Girls, which is unusual, especially for Cherry. They both came out and Leah just seemed wobbly. She was struggling with some of the toys and just suddenly looked really old. Cherry wasn't helping matters by knocking her over, out of the sand pit and other mean things. She was pining her down to groom, and pulling her back if she tried to leave. I got Leah out for a health check, and she just let me scoop her up without any fuss (NOT a Leah trait) and she didn't yell at me too much when I scruffed her. There was no lumps or bumps, and no discharge around her bits - I'm always cautious about pyometra in hamsters.

I text my Robo-expert friend, and she thinks maybe Cherry can suss that there is something wrong with Leah which is why she's picking her on. I cleaned them out at lunchtime so that I could give them another look over and weigh them. Leah has lost a bit of weight, but nothing dramatic. She was running around like a mad thing when I did clean them out, but Cherry was still knocking her over. I've been texting my Robo-expert friend again, and I've put Theodore back into my bedroom, just in case Cherry is picking up his scent and wanting to mate which is why she's being mean to Leah. But my friend thinks that it is more likely there is something wrong with Leah.

Can I have some vibes for her please? At the moment there is nothing specific that I can take her to the vets about. Plus she would freak so I want to do it only when I have enough information to make it totally worthwhile, if that makes sense. Obviously if the falling about gets worse I will take her straight away.

I am debating at the moment also whether to put her in with Theodore. I'm hesitant because I am about 99% certain she is too old to breed, but where she is a rescue I don't actually know how old she is - I'm just going by Looks. Originally we thought that Cherry was the elder, but now it is looking like Leah is. The other worry is that Theodore might be too rough with her, because he is only nine weeks old, plus he did fight with his brother who he was supposed to live with. Although robos do normally bow down to adults. I can’t put Cherry in with him, because they may well breed and with Cherrys unknown background that would be very unwise.

I’m at a loss. It might just be old age but I’m worried. She was doing so well, and this has hit me hard. What a rotten day.

I would probably suggest splitting the girls but putting leah into her own cage. It may be that they are fighting and cherry is not letting her sleep/eat/drink and making her feel unwell, on top of what may be a underlying vondition [but lets hope thats not the case!] This is what happened with my hamsters and in the end we had to separate them and they both lead long happier lives after vibes for her and you

How is she?

I was in the office today, just got home.

I woke them both up and scooped Leah up straight away, which isn't Leah at all. I *think* she may have the start of a lump on her tummy there is a line which is a different colour and feels raised. I couldn't check properly because she got distressed and started emptying her pouches on me, which she does when she's really upset, so I'll get her out again later. There doesn't appear to have been any fighting, and they were cuddled up together.

Theodore is going in the beauty room tonight! From lights out until alarm he was on his flying saucer wheel. How can something so small be so noisy!!!

My neighbour has upset me a bit. When I took on Leah and Cherry they were about a year old, and two years is a good age for a pedigree Robo, ones like Leah and Cherry who are imbred and badly cared for as babies are very lucky to reach their second birthday. I've always been very blasé about it, yes I will be devastated when Leah and Cherry go to the bridge, but I know it will be this year. End of. It would be this year regardless of their history, and quite honestly they've done well to get to this age.

I told my neighbour that I would lose them this year, and when I told her Leah was sick she told me it was my own fault for jinxing them saying they were going to die this year!!!!! I tried telling her about their problems but she wouldn't listen. She's upset me a couple of times recently, but this one is really mean I think. Well actually they've all been mean.

I'm going to wake them up again in a bit and get Leah out again. Poor thing is going to freak out, she's a look don't touch hammy which is why I am reluctant to take her to the vet until I can say x, y and z is wrong with her.

Today I'm separating them

Last night Cherry was being really mean to Leah, and Theodore not being in the room has made no difference. So today I'll be off getting a new cage for Leah to go in, and I think I put Theodore on their table, and have Leah and Cherry next to each somewhere else.

It's heart breaking separating them, because they've been such a close bond, but Leah was getting so upset last night I've got to do it

They are now separated. Theodore is on what was their table, Cherry has stayed in the pink cage and Leah is in the new cage. The new cage is smaller, which suits Leah really as she isn't as playful as Cherry, but I do feel mean that she doesn't have more space.

I do still wonder if Leah would bond with Theodore, but atm I just want her having peace and quiet
