Ideas Please! :(
Me and Chris are off work and was thinking of going to see our parents. However we have a problem....the rabbit. Its a 200 mile trip and we have a 2 seater car and although I may be able to struggle having him in his carrier all the way on my knee, I wouldn't know what to do with him once we got there. His cage is to big to bring. He hasn't had his boaster yet so he can't go into boarding and there are non local anyway.
Any ideas?
Any ideas?
Re: Ideas Please! :(
I have thought about that. But i am worried he woud forget, because his very busy and in and out all the time.
Re: Ideas Please! :(
Mmm, I di dthink it was a bit obvious, could you not arrange to text or call when he needs to go around there or something similar? ...Sorry, I'm not being very helpful I don't really know what to suggest.

No thats ok, its hard situation.
We are going to have this problem when ever we want to go away because there are no local boarding.
The other problem with having someone come over and feed him is that he wouldnot get a run around. I have just tried to get some NIC grids and set them up at my mums but only the big stores have them, and id need them for tomorrow.
Re: Ideas Please! :(
Could you get an indoor cage to take with you, give him some Rescue remedy, and do the drive? It won't be ideal, but it may your only option.
Re: Ideas Please! :(
We only have a two seater BMW....no back seat. Not really kitted out in that area. I don't drive and Chris has to have a flashy car.
Re: Ideas Please! :(
Could you buy a small dog crate, as it folds down it should fit in the boot...does the car have a boot??

It does but not very big.
My mum and dad are going to pop to BNQ and get some NIC grids.
I have been told these are flat packed? I have never had these before. In one pack there are 6 cubes worth, but I am assuming all the panels come apart so you can re assemble them? The journey is going to be a nightmare but will have to stop.

Re: Ideas Please! :(
Hi
Yeah I looked on there last night and the closest was Epsom (which is really close) but they only board guinea pigs and I am not sure they are even in business anymore.
The ones in the list you supplied are all in London and are miles away...plus his not vaccinated yet. Tomorrow Ill have to do the best I can.
Maybe when his vaccinated a rescue would look after him what I am away? I don’t really have much other choice.

How long have you had your bunny? Do you go away often? I doubt a rescue would look after him when you're away as they are usually full with waiting lists for bunnies in need to come in.

Re: Ideas Please! :(
I have not had him long, but I have had rabbits before and yes Chris would like to go away fairly often. I can't say I am that bothered but he moans. We had a big row about it yesterday because his fed up that we just can’t go anywhere with out the messing about with the rabbit. Up to now though we haven't been away much, its more about planning for when we go abroad. All the messing around puts him off and I admit it is a lot of messing about. I mean from what I can see there is no where for miles, I mean what are people with rabbits suppose to do when they want to go away? My family live on the other side of the country (where we are going today) so it’s not like I can just "pop" him there. Most of the boarding places in surrey are at least an hour’s travel via train but I can't take him on a train.
Re: Ideas Please! :(
This would be our local: http://www.petlodgeuk.com/ I would have to go with them. They are still a fair way, but not as far as the rest.
Re: Ideas Please! :(
I hope you managed to get something sorted. On Thursday I have to juggle my suitcase, laptop and Juno on the train down to London and through the tube.
I am not looking forward to it

I booked to go and see my parents a few months back and didn't have Juno at the time. She now needs daily meds and physio which Phil cannot do so she has to come with me.

Re: Ideas Please! :(
I would be careful Sooz. People literally take things off of you in London and make a run for it. Mostly immigrants, I know I have had the same problem. Especially in kings cross, dodgy is an understatement. I would never take McQueen on the train.
I got to my mum and dads ok. It was a crush but he was really good and never minded the travel. My dad set up the NIC grids and he has a nice big space to stretch out after the journey. My mums dog doesn’t know what to make of him. His never seen a rabbit. He likes to lay outside his cage and watch him, he wines and sometimes barks. He dose this with other dogs….he wants to play. But due to the dogs size….I wont be letting him out with the dog LOL. McQueen is so brave….his not bothered of the dog in the slightest….in fact the dog is scared of the rabbit.

Oh yes, up and down the country....less chance of me getting lost that way! Unfortunately I am also a dab hand at London. Thankfully my return ticket is via Reading instead
As Juno is so small we are taking a flatpacked cardboard box with us for her temporary accomodation and she can use the tortoise run in the garden when we get there too
