Re: Rory stasis
Hi hun,
Keep us updated. he will be fine hun. Usually it because something hurts (although with the Daiz its also caused by stress or excessive sulking).
Ask the vet for some critical care - its good stuff and works wonders.
Let us know hun. We have all been through stasis with buns and will do all we can to help.

Re: Rory stasis
Well, just got home. We went to the vet, she gave him a jab to move his gut, he bit my stomach as he was so unhappy, Lucy agreed that if anything his eye was worse - we got on the phone to Ken Fraser in Abingdon and he agreed to see him straight away. Next problem was Abingdon is an hrs drive away- I have had a driving licence for 1.5 yrs and to say I am nervous of going to new far away places is an understatment! I had collected Yasmin on route to the vets from school and the poor child hadnt been fed even! But, he needed to go so off we went! Lucy printed me off a map and Rorys history and Yasmin was my sat nav! Rory has Econiculi His eye is badly effected, he will be blind in that eye, he may even have to have it removed - I have to take him back to Ken in 10 days for him to decided whether it needs to be removed. It is so severe Ken actually got his colleagues to come and have a look at his eye with the specialist equipment he has. Rory has been prescribed Panacur for 28 days - Pred forte eye drops, and also Chloramph eye ointment. I have also been given Oxbow critical care. Im going to give him 15 mins to calm and be in his cage, he has had a massively long car journey, has been mucked about no end, has bitten me and Ken, and is thoroughly thoroughly pee'd off - I absolutley dont blame him. He has every variety of food in his cage and he has 15 mins to start eating it of I will syringe feed the critical care. Normally Rory loves cuddles, so I want to wrap him up and cuddle him, but I think he is better off having his space at the moment, he is not impressed with me at all! I have got to the point no I just need him to live - I could do with a cry, but the adrenaline is still pumping at the mo, and I need to make the most of it if im going to have to wrestle with him and the syringe - compliant Rory has had enough of complying today Yasmin is also completely washed out and I couldnt have got there without her help - the 9 year old super heroe she is, no moaning, just focusing on Rory and what we had to do I had better finish cooking her dinner, poor kid is starving! Rory will make it, he has to. I am going to ask for more details from this breeder re: her worming him before - silly silly silly bleeping women

Re: Rory stasis
Ah, just found this on the RWAF website:
''E. cuniculi can also affect the eyes. If unborn baby rabbits become infected via the placenta, granulomas may develop around the lens and cause problems after birth. Affected rabbits sometimes have white patches visible in the eye.''
One eye or two, he will always be the best looking little Casanova in the south east x

Re: Rory stasis
Thanks Katie Guess what.............. Just as I was about to get out the syringe........ HE IS EATING HAY!!!! Im going to leave him and see if he can hoover up the contents of the racks and multiple bowls of tasty things, and if he does then I will leave him be
Slightly worried he doesnt love me anymore Lets see if he can forgive me in a months time when hopefully I wont be administering 2 things to his eye four times a day and the panacur orally - I will win him over when he is better
The specialist was as mad as a box of frogs, but great - so gratefull to him and Lucy who have really gone out of their way today for Rory - they just earnt themselves a permanent loyal client who will no doubt bring lots of rabbity work their way. And I would just like to say thank you to petplan too - Dear Mr petplan, you thought that my insurance policys were going to be profitable didnt you?! I am sorry to inform you that in 3 days Rory has cost over £200 and we arent nearly done yet! The specialist is happy to deal with the insurance company direct, and hasnt even seen proof i am insured yet as it was an emergency dash from my own vet - now that is trust! Really really gratefull - £132 for the consultation alone - Im in the wrong job!

Re: Rory stasis
Oh Beki you are such a wonderful bunny Mum and I have so much respect for you. I don't think I have ever sat and worried and hoped for some good news as I have this afternoon over Rory.
I'm sending a mountain of Vibes for this little fella because I just love him to bit's.
We use 'Critical Care' and if we have buns that won't take it we add a little pineapple juice to it to make it more tastier for them.
Will be Thinking about you xxxxxxxxxx

Re: Rory stasis
Aw thanks Maysie thats so sweet of you! I actually feel there is more hope today than I did yesterday, at least I know what it is now, and I knew it wasnt a simple thing as it didnt fit - last night he was playing, this morning he didnt want a fuss and wouldnt eat his breaky. I cant get over how Friday his eye was fine, and by Saturday it was a mess - the specialist said thats really common, its almost instant. In some ways if he had wanted to take his eye out today I would of let him do it - I just dont want it to affect his other eye or his brain, which I have been told are possibilities. My gut feeling is we are now on the right road and we got there really quick, Im glad Lucy didnt experiment with a few things before calling in the specialist or it could have been too late to help him.
(shhh, dont look to my left...but Rory is eating pellets too now im too scared to breathe incase I distract him from the nomming, get it down ya Rory my son, wolf it lad!) - said in a faigan kind of voice
The specialist said to Yasmin 'do you love this little bunny young lady?' and she said 'very much, and Mummy loves him even more then that!' - just about sums it up! I love the other two - but he is something else, they dont need me in the same way he does, they dont need constant emotional support and physical affection - I suppose the best way to explain it is that they are bonded to each other, Rory is bonded to me

Re: Rory stasis
I found when the boy was I'll that once I knew what it was I could concentrate on fighting for him. So I understand what you mean x x x x
You have a good vet there - much respect to her for referring him and not having a dabble herself. There should be more out there like her .

Re: Rory stasis
His eye looks bad today as his eyelids look sore too but thats where he has been pulled about so much and has to have two different drops in his eye twice a day. He is eating well and had a cuddle and purred at me today instead of biting me! I just phoned our super hero vet to thank her for really going out of her way for us, and im now sat with willow and felix who have had minimal time since sat and have the grumps! Im going to be late for work, stuff it i dont care

Re: Rory stasis
Sorry to hear about Rory! At one point I did wander if Thistle had E.C as he has white flecks in one of his eyes, but both vets I've seen have said it's nothing to worry about. Hopefully they are right, he's going in for a check up tomorrow about his eye so fingers crossed nothing shows up then.
It's so good you found out what it is so early on and it can be treated, you sound like you have finally found the perfect vet for you! I'm sure the girlies will forgive you for the lack of time when they know the sexy fluff ball has been ill
