Those long fabric draught excluders that you put at the bottom of a door to keep draughts out are handy to put round inside the indoor cage/hutch for if bunnies roll ( just make sure they are not filled with those beads or the polysterene ones if they are a nibbling bun) or get a thick towel and roll it up and put a couple of long knee socks on either end that's what we use to do for Baby Saint when she was a bit wobbly.
Thanks Maysie, that would be great thanks, I don't actually have that book although I have kept meaning to order it. The draught excluder is a great idea too. I have just sat and watched all the utube videos and they just make me cry, I hope I hope I hope he can get his head back up, it's really distressing me and he just looks so miserable I just can't imagine him enjoying life unless his head is straight. I'm going to stay up and just watch him tonight in the dark and see what he gets up to. It's the cruelest thing, I feel really bitter on behalf of Rory to be honest, and really angry that this is the hand he has been dealt- well 'up yours' cruel fate and neglectfull breeder- we aren't beaten yet xxx
I'm so upset for you Beki and I know how you feel I lost Cloud at 7 months of age due to being taken away from her Mother far too young and so not having a good immune system to fight off viruses and I'm also very angry and very sad still! I do think that a lot of bunnies that have a lot of problems were taken away from their Mum's far too early and they don't get all that goodness of their Mother's milk and so their little bodies can't fight off the nasty bacteria
I know it's sad to see them on You Tube like that and I'm sorry if you were upset by it, I just wanted you to see that they were happy buns despite their problems. Sorry

My other thought is to ask whether he is still on the panacur? I just went back and checked Jay's notes. I saw that he had had a 28 day dose but Jay's notes seem to suggest a 42 day regime.

Maysie oh goodness no! You haven't upset me at all honestly, thenonly thing upsetting me is Rorys wonky head! Xxx he is sat on my lap at the moment and I'm moaning at him, telling him he is a typical man causing me so much grief! Much more fuss than the girls - but I love him the most! Yasmin is worried to death. He is quite happy laying here having a massage, don't worry too much , and don't worry about upsetting me, you are nothing but extremely helpful and comforting xx

I put him back on the Panacur myself, the vet felt it wouldn't help, but respected my decision to give him another course, this little chap has suffered with econiculli since he was about 4 weeks it seems, maybe he was born with it even - I have to give him another chance to get rid of it. If heroin would help I would go get him some of that

Right I have been sat here reading my book " When Your Rabbit Needs Special Care Traditional & Alternative Healing Methods' by Lucille C.Moore & Kathy Smith, and I've found this in it about e.cuniculi.
Go on this link http://brighteyessanctuary.org/educ/SpecialCare.pdf
and then read the pages 360-363.
That has saved me writing it all down for you

Re: Rory head tilt :( * photos may be upsetting*
He doesn't look too bad from the photos, which is encouraging, I've seen a lot worse. John Chitty has an EC bunny that he keeps as a pet, complete head tilt, 90 degrees. It is rather upsetting to see, I know what you mean. But I know that John would never keep an animal alive that shouldn't be.
They can live OK with it Becki, and although we seem to be saying 'stick with it' if at some point you decide it's too much, you will receive all the support you should expect from HH. No-one can put themselves in this position, and I can't honestly say, knowing what I know, that I'd keep Stewie going with head tilt. I would do what you're doing though, and fight for him until I knew the outcome was or wasn't going to change
Which meds has he been given presently?

Re: Rory head tilt :( * photos may be upsetting*
Thanks guys xx Stayed up untill ridiculous o'clock with him and he was settled but interested in things, still trying to chin things true to form! He has always lived cuddles ans purrs and licks us, this hasn't stopped, where as when his eye was at it's worse an he stopped eating he bit the vet and wouldnt let me run under his chin etc so as a comparison I know he doesn't feel that awfull - and of course, most importantly he is eating really well still - phew! Nothing wrong with his gut - his poo's are perhaps a bit darker but I have spoilt him with a huge variety of veg and herbs over the last couple of days panickin that he wouldn't eat whil I was at work. Maysie: I read the link about 6 am, really usefull thanks so much, and access to the whole book! Will read the rest of it at some point xx
Jay: yet again I have forgotten to write down the name of the Meds going into his eye- one is a milky liquid, one is a gooey translucent substance from a tube (will clarify what they are called) - then he has 0.4 mls of Metacam, and a daily dose of Panacur. His eye looks the worst it ever has, I told he vet that if we can get him strong enough I want his eye removed- if there is any sign of infection left then I won't run the risk of it flaring up and spreading, in my view I would rather he had one eye. His head definaltley hasn't tilted any further, if anything (and it may be wishful thinking) he looks slightly more upright. I spent a long time massaging his neck and whole body last night- the good hung with Rory is that you can touch him anywhere, in many ways he is the ideal patient. I have seen him grooming and eaten his poo's, very clean bum, he can't use the litter tray as he can't/won't get in, but he is using a corner and I have got a bit creative with newspaper and he wood pellet cat litter we use currently. Yasi got up at the crack of dawn this morning to give him lots of fuss before school - I'm not sure what else we can do???? I saw te rabbits of utube with a 90 degree tilt, heart breaking, do they really enjoy being alive?? I will concentrate on making him well, and preventing it from deteriating to that, I can't imagine allowing him to suffer that ...but I know Rory, I know how he behaves when he feels ok, how affectionate he is, and nosey, and possessive of chair legs and other such vital items that he must Mark as belonging to him all the time he does this I will know he is fairly jovial

Re: Rory head tilt :( * photos may be upsetting*
Glad to hear he's still being himself
I'm fairly cretain that Ros RWAF is a modeator for On the wonk.
I'd talk to your vet about ABX as well, Baytrill or Septrim. Only because Richard said that these would be meds he'd give. Do you want me to see if I can get some more info from him?
I don't know this for sure, but that dose of Metacam seems small - maybe someone else can help with that?
Cuddles to Rory and to you x

Thanks Jay, yes please, all help and advice gratefully accepted. My vets are not bunny experts, but put alot of effort into talkin about Rory as a team, and reading up on stuff whilst consulting with ken Fraser the eye specialist- so if I tell them what John Chitty recommends they would go with it I think xx

Just had a though about the metacam, maybe it seems low because Rorry is so tiny - underneath all that fluff he is very small and I think the dose is related to his weight xx

Re: Rory head tilt :( * photos may be upsetting*
They could always call him, he's happy to speak to vets, AFAIK. They'd need to anyway if they were going to give him meds that they aren't sure about to get the right dose and length of course etc.
I don't know when it's more apt to use Baytrill and when it's more apt to use Septrim.
They could also call Richard Saunders?
I'd also show them the bit about EC from my conference notes, it may help?
I'll PM you John's number to pass on.
Oh and I just saw something about him possibly having it since birth - they can get it in the womb, are usually born with it, and are at their most vulnerable up to a few weeks after birth.

Thank you! Thanks guys honestly I appreciate it so much just got home and he is flopped out, that to me is a great sign - it really hurt me the other day when he his on the log roll right at the back - he never does that, flopped Rory means happy Rory ** just as I'm writing this he fell over onto his side and panicked to scramble back up ** ok, deep breaths
Jay, the Meda for his eye are: chloramph pint 4g 4 times daily and preforte eye drops 5 mls 4 times daily. I called the vets and they don't have an email address according to the receptionist which I can use to forward info- so I have asked for a specific vet who has worked with Rory before to call me ASAP xx

That was my fault I thought by seeing other bunnies with the same thing Beki would realise it's not the end of the world for Rory and they can go on to live fairly happy lives, I could kick myself now and I did apologise to her
