Angelica's little problem..... Empty Angelica's little problem.....

Post by gentl Wed Oct 24, 2012 8:38 pm

Angelica's lady bits look like what sore hocks look like. Getting a picture at this time is impossible. She is FAST! She does some classy binkies! She was in a wire bottom cage outdoors and her hidey hole was particle board with no bedding so her lady bits never got a break.

I've only had one doe before and Lady never had prominent, red and raw lady bits. Angelica is 7 months old. She is loving to flop out on the cool tile floor. I think it must feel very good. It appears to be soothing for her. She has a blankie but prefers the floor.

Ouch! Bless her heart. Is there any sign of an infection?

Could she have been bitten by another bun or anything??

If she was on a wire bottom cage and had no bedding, would she be able to lie in pee Rob? Suspect Unless that board soaked it up...

I wonder if she has a bit of a UTI...

Do you have a decent enough vet that you could pop her to just to get her checked over? The hu-parents do that with any new bun within the first few weeks, just so they know they are healthy and anything to keep an eye on.

I hope you don't feel too sore, Princess Angelica. But don't turn down any extra treats which may come your way Hugs Hugs Hugs

Poor sweetheart - it does sound as though it maybe be urine burn. A vet check may be an idea to rule out an infection.

We will take her to a vet soon. Trying to find another bunny savvy vet since Thumper died in the one recommended vet's office. I need to find one i have confidence in so she can be spayed. The only other one I had heard of passed lately.

I'm concerned that she may have worms as well because this little girl EATS. She has trained us well. She flings the heavy ceramic bowl against the tile floor when she gets hungry. She is an early riser too I may add! Flinging the bowl so hard it can be heard in the kitchen! She has eaten more hay in these few days than Thumper did in 2 months! We have her on Timothy hay already because of the calorie content in alfalfa.

Check her poop Holly if she has worms you should be able to see tiny white worms in her poop. Usually the rabbit can look quite skinny if they have worms.

Holly, she is probably just a normal greedy rabbit! Thumper sounded like a bit of a picky bun so she is going to be very different.

Sasha eats enormous amounts of hay. Much more than Barley does so it might just be that she likes it more than Thumper did.

Hoping you can find a good vet.

There is no sign of infection and the redness seems to be diminishing. My
thoughts now are that it was urine scald or irritation of the urine soaked
particle board toxins. Poor baby girl!

Maysie, she has normal healthy poos I didn't see any worms. I'm getting
used to seeing poos from a hay eating rabbit. Thumper and Lady preferred
phonebooks. No

Boo had urine scalds on his hocks (he is a rex) when he came to me, they went fairly quickly and he hasn't had any problems since.

Tilly is always ravenous Laughing I do limit her pellets accordingly to her size and age as I want her to be a big hay eater, does Angelica eat greens yet?

Angelica LOVES her greens! She had never seen more than a leaf off a head of iceberg. We are giving her radicchio, arugula and today we added a few leafs of baby spinach. We also have given her just a tiny bit of carrot once a day. She has slept most of the day. She was up rearranging her space all night. I'm amazed at how she manages to move heavy/bulky things.

Hi Holly Wave
I saw your photo of your beautiful new baby on Facebook. She's gorgeous!

How is she doing now?
Honestly, my two eat and eat and eat and I'm sure many people on here can vouch for that with their buns!

Princess Angelica is just fine. The way she humps my fuzzy socks makes me wonder if she was raw from humping something(s). No She eats hay all around the clock! She will fling her heavy ceramic carrot shaped bowl we give her in hay to her in against the tiled floor until we give her more! This usually starts about 5:30AM....she was given her night-night treat at 2AM! Rolling Eyes

She has hay in her box which she will eat....but she wants it in her bowl!! She's training us well. No But she is a lovey bunny just like I wanted. Now...if she will start using the litter box correctly again it will be perfect!
