Re: Opinions guys? U/D Back from the vets
I went in this morning to feed the buns and Willow had ripped what I held as almost a handful of fur from herself and made a "nest", shredding all of the newspaper up and mixing it in with the hay and fur. I'm guessing this is a phantom pregnancy? Is there anything you can do to stop these? It was not nice to see she'd pulled that much from herself

Re: Opinions guys? U/D Back from the vets
Poppy went through a couple of phantom pregnancies. There's not a lot you can do but in our experience it only lasts 24 - 48 hours.
Vibes for the special girl
Note - I have heard of rabbits very occasionally being given some sort of hormone injection when a spay is not possible. If you are on FaceBook, it's worth an ask on the RWAF page

Re: Opinions guys? U/D Back from the vets
Thanks Sparky and Holly
It seems to have passed now. I'm wondering if that fur pulling episode she had not long ago was also one? That fur was sporadically placed around the room though, whereas this lot was very much "collected" in the litter tray :S
I may look into that hormone injection, Sparky

It's hard to say
I've noticed a few more "pee trails" lately but her and Mo have been a bit grumpy with each other so it could be territorial. I'm keeping a close eye...

Re: Opinions guys? U/D Back from the vets
I'm really sad to be writing this, but Willow has started peeing around the room and her cage again
I was hoping so badly it was territorial, but her and Mo have kissed and made up and it's still going on. Her bum is still dirty as well...
They need their nails done so I'll book them in for Monday (the only night we can get in with the rabbit savvy vet) and let her know what's going on then.
I've been looking at those Oxbow Urinary Support tabs on The Hay Experts and wondering if it's worth a go. What do you guys think?

Re: Opinions guys? U/D Back from the vets
I have no idea what to suggest, other than what you are already doing! I suppose you could use the urinary support supplement, there are people that swear by it, but i guess it depends on what is really going on as to how much difference it will make, if any. I think if I was in your position, id try anything though!
Sending tons of vibes for her. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Re: Opinions guys? U/D Back from the vets
I use the joint support ones from oxbow and have been quite pleased. Supreme also do a urine health version of their vetcare plus food.

Re: Opinions guys? U/D Back from the vets
I'm sorry to hear things have gone downhill - it does sound like an infection if it improves on abx though hunni.
I don't think you have anything to lose trying her on the oxbow.

Re: Opinions guys? U/D Back from the vets
I came home to lots of pee again today
It makes me really sad to see her go backwards when she was doing so well. She's not suffering in anyway but it still makes me sad for her.
I think I might try the Oxbow Urinary Support. Like you've all said, nothing to loose. I'll keep you posted...

Re: Opinions guys? U/D Back from the vets
I would at least speak to the vet, she might just need longer on the abx. Pesky infections have a habit of coming back if they're not 100% cleared.
Loads of vibes for Willow

Sparky bang on. An infection that is not 100%cleared will return.
Fluff slave I use colloidal silver externally to clean hutches and litter trays and internally if anyone falls I'll due to infection even suspected ones.
Produce the silver my self and willing to send out some. Postage only

Re: Opinions guys? U/D Back from the vets
I think abx might be what the vet suggests on Monday. I wish we didn't have to wait that long, but the rabbity vet is only in on a Monday evening and it would totally pointless seeing anyone else there. The last time I took her for claw clipping with the non-rabbit vet, she almost broke her back
However, I keep going back for my vet as she is absolutely amazing with Willow, really knows her stuff and is a lovely lady
The other vet is a great vet, just not for buns...

Re: Opinions guys? U/D Back from the vets
Try and stay calm honey, try and get some fluids inside her as she could be dehydrated if she has an infection and also a poorly bottom.
I can only say that I know just how horribly stressful it is when buns are poorly and you are feeling at your wits end. But hang in there babe, cos you are doing brilliantly.
Sending you, and Willow and Mr Mo, lots and lots of love. x x
