Re: Bella not right, (she lost her battle)
Yeah will say that tomorrow, only probs is getting one, might be able to get some from her passage as theres none in her carrier, the puppy matts are mostly stained & wet with her widdle, shes just moving small amounts now looked like last wee bit was less like water, the thermometer wasnt covered this time, vet thinks its settling down its her core temp shes very worried about.
This is print out list of treatments: snuggle safe £18, fee £21. Then rest mounts up but shows you how much she needed. Baytrul, protexin fibreplex, sodium chloride & glucose and dexadreson all yesterday. With note on breathing normal, colour normal, warmed saline was given all over her body (no charge for that odd cos nothing is free these days). Bring indoors (done) and HWB ??? Think means hot water bottle, constant nurse required. Hourly feeds, I was doing it 20 mins but she was only taken tiny amount.
Today its more bsytril, metoclopramide injection. Then note about temp still a worry but shes very alert in concolt room but sleeping alot at home.
Going to prepare her some warm water with critical care, was trying to see her weight to get right dosage but not on printout, better phone them, try get some more food in her, should have warmed up a towel on heater to wrap he in.

Well she just scoffed about 30ml of critical care sulotion, must be good. 5 t spoons of mushy pellets/hay. Much more than could get in her via syringe, shes not quiet taking off spoon herself but not spitting it out so most went in her.

My baby, heater is on full, her snuggle pad is still really warm will reheat after tea or later on if its ok. If that doesnt heat her blood up god knows what will.

Oh bless her little heart! I must say with her head up and ears up like that she looks somewhat alert so that must be a good thing. Get well beautiful Bella Hope you feel a little better to Lynn, I know stress makes me feel exactly like you are.

Re: Bella not right, (she lost her battle)
Lynn I've only just seen this.
You need a 1 ml syringe to syringe feed it's a lot easier to work with and you can add some baby food to the syringe mix to make it tastier or a little honey. They really need to be syringe fed every two hours day and during the night to keep their tummies going. Bella will also need fluids as well.
Oxbow Critical Care FINE GRIND is the best food for syringing as it's a lot finer and so smoothier to draw into syringe and feed them. It's always worth having a packet in for emergencies.
If her body is in shock it's very very important to keep her warm at all times, put a fleece in a pet carrier, then a heat pad then put another fleece or towel over her and if you have any..BUBBLEWRAP. It's brilliant for keeping the heat in and keeping them warm put that over her and tuck it in underneath her.
Sending all the Vibes I can muster for Bella as I have a soft spot for her xxxxxxxx
Thinking about you and wishing we were nearer so we could help you

Re: Bella not right, (she lost her battle)
I have c.c that you mix with water, shes taking it really well, spoon fed her the paste last 2 times, took more of it 1st time not so much next but she just had her medicine, tried putting things on her, she moves or kicks them off, so shes up close to the heater, think will put blanket over half the crate tho case she gets a draft. When i take her out I wrap her in a warm towel.

Glad she's taking her feed's well that's good and if she is moving and kicking her towels off that's a good sign as she is fighting.

Re: Bella not right, (she lost her battle)
Lynn, try and see if she will take it from a fork rather than a tea spoon. Thumper always preferred to eat from the fork. I think it is easier for them because there isn't the dip in the middle like there is with spoons
I'm so glad she seems to be perking up. How are you feeling now yourself?

Re: Bella not right, (she lost her battle)
If I still had baby spoons they would have been ideal, no dip. Will try the little pudding sporks see if they help, just making up a fresh feed the now, try mix some carrot in if can, wish had honey but dont use it, just golden syrup mmmmm.
I'm mostly just really tired, going to give her this feed with her antibiotics, then go for a nap before her next one.

Re: Bella not right, (she lost her battle)
She seems quite bright in the photo, which is good
I'm glad she is accepting the feeds - she is obviously hungry. I'd suggest surrounding her with foods she loves in case she does decide to eat for herself too - yummy hay, veg, her usual pellets. I'd also make a mush of her pellets dampened with some warm (not hot) water as poorly bunnies seem to like them plus I think the warm water makes them smell stronger so more appealing. (Obviously don't give her anything she is not used to.)
I hope you are feeling a bit better about things and manage to get some decent rest in between nursing.

I agree with all of thisDotdot wrote:£95 sounds really good price actually! When Jeeves had slight stasis we spent over £100 and he had less than what Bella had by the sounds of it.
Honestly, if she doesn't stop diarrhoea I would seriously consider a faecal sample.

Better still just dip your fingers in the feed and let her lick it off them.

Re: Bella not right, (she lost her battle)
Fed, watered and medicine done, added mushed carrot to the mixture she likes it think shes no energy to eat it herself, shes cooled down again as well, hubbies sorted heating to stay at constant 24, till heats back up covered her with boys old curtains, not that she stayed there, better iron some school uniform then go for sleep.

This is fantastic news! Keep it up, Bella!
to you. You've been so great and I'm sure she wouldn't be feeling this much better without your wonderful love and care.

Re: Bella not right, (she lost her battle)
This mornings update, last night seen a big improovement, me and hubby fee her in turns so I could get some sleep, i fed her at 10 sge ate a good amount then set my alarm for 2.15, stu fed her at midnight but he thinks he couldnt get enough in her, I got her to take a good amount at my 2.15 feed, set my alarm for 4 but bloody didnt set it right, so she went to long, alarm went off for kids at 7 thats when realised my alarm didnt go off, rushed up half asleep, she was a bit lethargic, gave her the antibiotics but didnt get her to eat alot, so left her till 8, cleaned her bum, that was a fight tell ya got kicked & scratched like hell shes deffo feeling better, 1st 2 times she didnt fight at all, she got her fibre medicine, then ate the new mix i made, put carrot, wild rocket leaves & soften dry food in blender with extra water, she ate about 1.5 tsp off the little measuring spoon herself wooohooo, got another 1.5 in her with bit of coaxing. So put her back in. Thats enough for now, waited till about half hour later offered her half a grape just to see if she was interested in it, she sure was, scoffed it, so submerged other 2 halfs in the mushed food, she ate 1 of them with some mush, step in right direction, think the honey suggestion is deffo worth a shot, how much is safe to mix in her food. Might try making up hay, water & tiny bit o hunny to get some hay in her. I'm pretty sure her core temp should be up, her body feels nice and warm to touch & her ears are warm, just need to get on top of the bottom mess, hopefully the antibiotics & fibramax stuff sort that. I will continue with the critical care formula till its cleared up, keep some of the nutrients shes loosing in her.
